Severe itching

Hi all, new here and after some advice. I’m 24+5 and around 2 weeks ago started getting severe itching around my hips which has now spread to my upper legs, lower back, lower belly, forearms and elbows. Been to GP and had blood tests LFT all fine. Advised to get E45 and Euriax cream and neither are helping. The rash only appears after scratching (apart from elbows and forearms is there all the time) and the itching it’s a lot worse evening and night. Any ideas what to use or do as I can’t put up with this itching for much longer. TIA

Could it be PUPPP? www.babycenter.com/pregnancy/your-body/puppp-rash_40008036

Sorry for the ugly link

Do antihistamines help? I hope it stops soon, i imagine it's unbearable Sad

Eurax was amazing for me. Or Calamine lotion?
It's probably PUPP as prev poster said. Check with midwife about antihistamines.

Mention it to your midwife there is a serious liver condition that causes severe itching. Very rare, extremely unlikely but worth saying

I had something like this - was diagnosed with a type of hormone-triggered eczema. Had it all over my bump, arms and legs. Not PUPP in my case. They reluctantly prescribed a low dose steroid cream which made it a tiny bit more bearable. Cold showers were the only thing that gave me relief! Disappeared as soon as I’d had the baby thankfully!

Thanks for the replies, had the blood test and liver is fine. GP reckoned not PUPP as no rash and looks like a heat rash when it does become raised (basically when been scratched), antihistamines haven’t worked either tablet or cream. I’m thinking hormone related too, not finding out gender but maybe it’s a boy! Will head back to GP tomorrow to see if they will prescribe anything else.

One of the things they say call midwife immediately for is severe itching. Did you ring your midwife advice line or just GP? (Not sure if this is just because of the liver, if so - glad that's ok!)

I had similar in first pregnancy. Mainly over my legs. Only thing that temporarily eased it was cold water. I had a bucket by my bed and would have to stick my legs in the water all through the night. Definitely the worst pregnancy symptom for me. It started during the second trimester and then passed in my third. You have my sympathy
