20 week scan?

Hi there:

Getting way ahead of myself here, but I'm wondering how many people you're typically able to bring to your 20 week scan? I'm likely to be having family visiting and I know it would mean lots to my mother to be able to see!

Thanks!

I'd have thought that as long as they can fit in the room (they tend to be fairly pokey) as many as you wanted.

Last time I had my DH and DS1 with me, so you should at least be able to take your DH/P and your mum.

Hi, I took DP, my step mum and my mother in law and like natalie said as long as they can fit you all in it should be fine

at our local hosp we were rationed to two - they might do the checking part of the scan with just you, i think it varies (did for me, in different hospitals) then they get dad and whoever else in. Just so you know, at the 20 week scan it is very long, as they check and measure everything - all the internal organs, blood flow, everything. With my first DC i had a 'silent' sonographer, and it scared me to death thinking there was something wrong.

Is it really supposed to be that long? I was in and out in 10 mins

gigglewitch · 24/01/2008 12:23

lucky you, Carey! all three of mine were long... I supposed forewarned is better, and if it is over in ten mins then you've got a bonus!

One person where I live and that's it. private places are different though.

At our local hospital we are only allowed 1 other person in the room and specifically told no children.
It's only ever been DH & I at our scans anyway (did take DD1 to DD2's first scan and she was an absolute nightmare, never again !)
