Period pants for post partum bleeding

Hello all, I wear a mooncup and period pants for periods normally. I am due to give birth very shortly and would prefer to use period pants rather than disposable maternity pants, towels etc. I appreciate I can't use a mooncup because of the risk of infection. But.... I remember when I had my first child my postpartum bleeding was epic in scale and I'm not convinced period pants would cope - or perhaps you'd have to change them every couple of hours which means buying loads of the things (I currently only have the light/medium flow pants as I usually wear them with a mooncup - appreciate I'd need to buy some heavy flow pants but ideally not dozens of them). Has anyone any experience? Thank you

Just buy disposable underwear for the first 3 days, then big underwear with the biggest pads you can find for day 4-7 . The first week, there is a lot of stuff coming out. Dealing with a newborn, you want to think about washing it. If baby is sleeping, put your feet up , play with DC1, and don't worry about soaking and washing dirty period pant overflowing with postpartum lochia

I really don't think there are any period pants out there that could cope with the immediate post-birth level of bleeding, sorry. They'd be great for after a few weeks once the bleeding has settled down significantly.

I’ve bought some Modibodi post partum pants. I plan on using pads in addition to the pants for the first wee while while bleeding is at its heaviest. TBC how well this plan works because I’ve not given birth yet.

Thanks guys, this is what I suspected! I will bank on using pads for the first couple of weeks and then shift over to period pants once the worst is over.... Appreciate all your help!

Yeah I had primark period pants with a maternity pad for the first bit then when the bleeding reduced I could go to the pants on their own.
