acid reflux

I have GORD so have struggled with acid reflux on and off for a long time. I can usually manage it with diet and keeping weight off my stomach. But when I'm pregnant it comes back so badly that I sometimes wake up choking on acid which is terrifying.
In my last pregnancy I was prescribed zantac but that's obviously been recalled now. I can't have omeprazole or lansoprazole because of side effects. So I'm just relying on Gaviscon and Rennies. However I'm only 10 weeks and I know once I have a bump it's going to get a lot worse. Is there anything else that helps?

Is it all ppi that you can't have? I couldn't have lansoprazole so didn't use any ppi during my pregnancies, but afterwards, I found that I actually got on with esomeprazole and pantoprazole

I was on twice the maximum dose of ranitidine along with 2 of the largest bottles of gaviscon a week for 7 months and I've been left with a hernia after pregnancy. You have my sympathy. Practically, I found raising the bed slightly helped, among with not eating after 6pm, and lying in my left side

Get the massive bottles of gaviscon prescribed by gp and just swig out the bottle - little and often!

Certain things cause more acid generation in the stomach. Coffee is a big one but if you Google there are others- maybe try cutting down or eliminating things to see if it helps. Eating beige stuff little and often seemed to help me (crumpets mainly!!!).

Reflux wedge pillow to sleep on?

My sympathies - it's miserable!
