Water birth question

I am really hoping for a water birth. I would love to know what happens straight after birth if in the pool. Do you get out straight away and get on to the bed with baby and deliver the placenta? I assume the water gets a bit yucky so how soon do you shower? I am hoping to spend first hour skin to skin so would not want to shower too soon. Sorry if silly questions, but have been wondering for a while lol

I had two water births. Recommend.
Yes- after you've had a cuddle- they will get you out. The water does get cold quite quickly after.
I recall getting back into bed to keep cuddling- I think.
Its all a long time ago now- becomes a blur.
All the best!

Also two water births. Definitely recommend. I stayed in there for maybe ten mins ish then got out for cuddle and delivering placenta. They didn’t want me in there too long because the baby will get cold. Had a shower when I was ready

Stayed in the water to deliver placenta and then went to the bed for cuddle and a few stitches. Then went to our double bed for sleep and showered the next day. Honestly I was so in love and exhausted the thought of showering didn’t occur to me. It was the best.

You can stay in the water and recover. I then had the urge to get out and right myself.
Everything is down to you. Every decision, every action is yours.

I got out of the pool after DS was born and walked around a bit - he latched onto my boob as I was climbing out if the pool, and then delivered the placenta into the toilet. I think the midwife had set it up with something to catch it, but my memory is a bit hazy.

Two water births. Delivered placenta in water - all fine and then got out and had a bath (homebirth) and food.

I think I stayed in quite a while. I was in the MLU so the water was very warm and stayed warm. I had planned to deliver the placenta in the pool but it didn't want to come so eventually they told me to get out so I could have the injection.

She latched in the pool and we had lovely floaty cuddles.

Outing but it's 6 years to the day 😂

I had one waterbirth and hope to have a second this time round too. I don't think we stayed in the pool for long after delivery, I carried LO over to the bed and had cuddles. I asked for the injection to speed up delivery of the placenta as I felt exhausted. Placenta was delivered on the side of the bed I think quite quickly. I can't remember showering, I think I just wanted to go to sleep as I'd been having contractions for the past 3 nights and hadn't slept!

I stayed in the pool for quite a wee while having cuddles, baby was v content. I did come out the pool to deliver the placenta on the bed and had a lovely couple of hours skin to skin before I got back in the birthing pool to have a shower and clean up (there was a showerhead attachment).

Hello. Still waiting for baby to arrive and still hoping for a water birth lol. My friend has had a water birth since I started this thread and she birthed in the water and stayed in for around 10-15 minutes before getting out. She delivered the placenta out of the water on the bed whilst cuddling baby. She then had a shower. She highly recommends a water birth!
