Blood test at 20 week scan

Hi everyone

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow and noticed on my appt letter that this includes a blood test. Does anyone know what this is for? Is it a screening one like at 12 weeks? Have googled but can't seem to find out

I have bad anxiety about scans and blood test results after a sad outcome previously so would rather know what it entails before I get there.

For mine it was iron and gestational diabetes, just routine checking on your health.

Hi @RebeccaCloud9 Thankyou for replying. Funnily enough there was no blood test yesterday so not sure why it said it on my letter 🤔 assuming this must be at my next midwife appt instead maybe! X

Is it after your scan? Set bloods are for the NIPT and 28 weeks usually. I had extra bloods at 20 weeks as they monumentally buggered up my first lot but it was only for downs. Won't be diabetes too early unless you were a previous diabetic pregnancy then its 16 and 24-28 weeks.
