Reduced movements @ 22 weeks?

Hi All!

Just wondering if this is normal I've been pregnant twice before but they were so long ago I can't even remember what the pregnancy was like 😳

I've felt baby since about 18 weeks and they have a very very distinct pattern, past 24 hours I don't think I've actually felt anything, I've also got constant pain in my stomach and it's hard (not going hard and soft just staying hard) and I have some loose bowel movements

Could this be worth a ring to maternity or am I just being paranoid for no reasons as i got told not to count kicks until 26 weeks :/

Always check.

Just call them, they will do a quick check. Had the same and baby had just turned in a different position. But def just get it checked.

At 22 weeks baby is still small and has probably just turned around and is kicking your back instead of your front. I know you felt a pattern but the patterns aren't really reliable until you're more like 30 weeks, however it is ALWAYS best to check.

I went 3 times during my pregnancy and he was fine all 3 times, but it was never an issue for the midwives and they were always lovely and there were always other women in doing the same too. You are completely right to check, don't feel like you are wasting anyones time. If, and it's a very big if, there was something up they can do things now to help keep baby happy.

Good luck OP x

Definitely get checked just to be on the safe side, however I will say I am 22+1 and around a week ago felt him moving much less and had the same worry as you. Since about Monday he has been back to kicking up a storm and the kicks feel much stronger, I thought perhaps he was having a growth spurt?

I am sure everything will be fine and as others said they are still quite small so lots of room to swivel around 😊

Im 25 weeks had similar worries a couple of weeks ago and again the other day. Have u done the cold fizzy drink, chocolate and a lie down to see if that makes a difference? I didn’t get checked in the end as I had felt a couple of tiny movements but yesterday I saw my midwife and asked her about whether I should of come in or not and what weeks they’d monitor the movements….she said to always ring as they’d bring u in to listen to the heartbeat under 26 weeks then from 26 weeks onwards they’d pop u in the monitor to monitor the movements. She said don’t feel silly for ringing, better to check x

I'm in the same position as you right now @Angelxmama !

I'm 22 Weeks + 1 day today and for the past 10 days have felt like baby has a pattern - every 2 hours in the day I've felt little kicks which I've been able to feel on the outside too when I put my hand on my belly. I know that sounds early compared to what I've read/been told, but everyone's different and I first felt the bubbling/fluttering signs of early movement from 14 weeks on and off, despite this being my first pregnancy - it's a distinctive sensation so knew it was baby and not just me/gas haha.

However, today I've felt nothing, not even just one little flutter/bubble/kick by 10am which normally I'd feel 2 episodes of movement by that time as she's a right little wriggler at the moment - always has been in the scans too.

I rang Maternity triage to be on the safe side/get advice and they said by 22 weeks you don't have a pattern, even if you think you have - this apparently isn't established until 26 weeks. They advised me to drink and eat sugary stuff and drink a cold glass of water, then lie on my left side for 2 hours and monitor movements. If nothing/still concerned, I've got to call them back to then be booked in with a community midwife for a checkup - but doesn't sound like they're that concerned at 22 weeks that it requires a scan which is both reassuring and not haha.

I've done all the above and been lying here for 1.5 hours and think I felt one mini pulse sensation, but can't even be sure if that was baby or me as it was so faint compared to the mini kicks she's been doing prior to today. So giving it another 30 mins and will call them back - will keep you posted! Hoping it's just a case that she's moved and as I have a high anterior placenta, maybe she's kicking higher today and my placenta is cushioning it all, whereas previously she was kicking quite low down so I felt everything.
