I just got a very faint positive pregnancy test at 8 dpo. I don't know why I tested so early but I've had so many symptoms in the last week that I was getting impatient.

Anyway, I'm delighted but I'm experiencing what feels like the start of a period. Is this normal? I don't remember having this with my dd. As I've had two early miscarriages in the last year, I am really concerned it might happen again. Please someone put my mind at ease.

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi fairydust

Congratulations!

I did a stupidly early test too (10dpo), but it was because I'd been feeling intense period-like cramps far earlier than usual. Looking back I think those were implantation pains.

I think period-like cramping and even a little bleeding can be normal in the next week or so, due to implantation. But I understand your worrying, unfortunately early testing means we have even longer to fret over each twinge. The feeling may fade over the next few days and then you'll be panicking that you can't feel anything!

Some of the women on here who've had a MC before have gone to their doctors and been offered early scans or even hCG counts to make sure the PG is progressing well. Perhaps see what happens in the next few days and then go tell your doc the good news. Good luck

Thanks digitalgirl and congratulations on your pregnancy! I know it's stupid putting myself through this added stress by testing early. Good advice about the doctor, I might go tomorrow.

Good luck to you too :-)
