Currently 34 weeks and been prescribed Aciclover for 7 days for the treatment of shingles. I know doc has said it’s fine but I’d be more reassured hearing from people that have taken this med whilst pregnant and all been okay?

I've taken acyclovir on multiple occasions in two pregnancies (for herpes) and no issues.

I've taken it both early on for a few days and then at the later stages of pregnancy for a few weeks.

I took it from 36 weeks three times a day, same reason as @Sarahlouise86 and all fine

I had Shingles late July at 34 weeks was prescribed Aciclover and codeine for the pain. I did take both but not a lot of the codeine only when the pain was unbearable. But me and baby are absolutely fine

Thanks @LgsEd . My rash annoyingly is across my right breast! So hoping it clears up and the pain goes away before baby comes

@SassyPants87 Mine started at the top of my left breast, under my armpit and down to my left elbow, left shoulder blade. The pain was unreal.
The pain finally stopped but I’m still really itchy where the rash started

@LgsEd I’ve just been in the hospital and my rash and pain has gone down significantly but they want me to continue with Aciclover until birth!! To prevent getting shingles again. Did you have to do this? I really don’t want to continue as I’ve been experiencing some of the side effects which aren’t great!

@SassyPants87 No.. they told me to take the 7 day course and codeine for the pain but not to continue until birth.
