In week 21, I have severe indigestion/ acid reflux.

What are some of the home remedies that help?

Sleep on your left side if you can, it helped me. That and a giant bottle of gaviscon (or the tesco equivalent- I preferred the taste) to swig from in the middle of the night.

I have never found a home remedy that works! Get yourself to the GP and ask got Omeprazole, nothing else worked for me through my 2 pregnancies. Even Gaviscon stopped working after 20 weeks 😡

Yogurt. Loads and loads of it.

If you find one please let me know...

I'm on week 32 and had heartburn since around week 20. I've tried yoghurts, plain diet, smaller meals, eating before hungry, sleeping on the left side, etc. all in a bid to avoid too much calcium/magnesium carbonate - nothing even comes close to a good swig of Gaviscon sadly!

And now at 4am I don't even bother with the medicine spoon 😅

Get the Gaviscon Advance in ya!! Peppermint far more palatable than aniseed IMO.

The sachets are brilliant for out and about. It gives instant relief that no home remedy unfortunately will give!

The only thing that helps my heartburn is the boots gaviscon equivalent! It literally works instantly for me. Currently 37 weeks and its getting worse everyday!

MrsWooster · 13/09/2022 15:32

As above, plus peppermint tea.

RosieRoww · 13/09/2022 15:33

Try buttermilk.

Hoppinggreen · 13/09/2022 15:35

Peppermint tea

I tried all the usual tricks with home remedies but then moved on to Gaviscon and Rennie at week 20. Even that didn't work after 30 weeks so made a call to my GP and now on 10mg Omeprazole daily. It's worked wonders and wish I'd started taking it sooner. Please don't suffer. Omeprazole via prescription is completely safe in pregnancy.

Slippery elm powder, my mother used to make a drink with hot milk, looked a bit like horlicks, but you can get capsules from Holland and Barratt. Worked for me on the odd occasion I've had it.

Lentilbaby · 13/09/2022 19:29

My GP prescribed me 2 litres of Gaviscon Advanced at a time!

Honeydew melon
