Exercise in pregnancy

Just wondering how much exercise people are doing/did at different stages of pregnancy? And what you do?

I used to love spinning but found difficulty getting pregnant as it was very intense and affected my hormones. So the month I stopped I got pregnant and now I’m finding it soo difficult to get back into it, mainly because I’m 11 weeks and just tired all the time 😅. But really would like to get active again.

Iv just been wondering this, I used to be quite active, lifting weights, running etc but took a break for a few weeks then got pregnant and scared to pick it back up.
Been wanting to focus on just weights as I walk alot but not sure.

I used to do HIIT, running and yoga (and a lot of walking) before pregnancy. Kept going until exhaustion hit me like a brick at 6 weeks, and did almost nothing for a few weeks. Sometimes not even a short walk a day, just lying in bed in every spare moment. 15 weeks now and as I've started to feel better gradually, been doing more walking and pregnancy yoga. Tried aerobic workouts/running a little but even short sessions still absolutely drain me, so having to stick to just walking and yoga atm. Hoping to see the promised 2nd semester energy boost at some point! :-D

Exercise is totally safe, but you might need to adjust what you're doing - especially weights. I'm usually very active (rowing, cycling, strength training) but totally got wiped out by debilitating nausea for two months at the start. If you're feeling tired, it might be iron levels - that really affected me in my first pregnancy.

This time I got going again once I had meds that worked to stop the nausea but had to ease myself back in gently. I was doing probably 3-4 sessions per week (which is less than I'd normally do) until about 24 weeks when we went down with COVID, and then it was the awful hot weather (can't use a gym this time as have a toddler, and house was too hot to do anything in, as was outside!). I've not really managed to pick it back up again much after that as I now feel like the size of a whale (34 weeks now), although I need to get sorted with some upper body stability exercises before the baby arrives as I didn't do that very well last time and really paid for it afterwards!

I used this book as a guide both times - The Pregnant Athlete - www.amazon.co.uk/Pregnant-Athlete-Ever-Before-During-Pregnancy/dp/0738217263 (other outlets not Amazon are available!)
