Got a 12-week scan booked but I'll only be 9 weeks help!

Hey guys,

I've got my first scan appointment from my hospital on October 6 where I will only be 9+1.

The scan date is right based on my last period but I had just had the implant out and I know for a fact when I ovulated and my tests match up to that.

I put all this in my form to register but seems like they've stuck to the last period date even though I was just off my implant and my periods were so irregular before.

Should I ring them up and rearrange or go at 9 weeks and know I would be measuring 3 weeks behind?

I would try ring and rearrange as the scan will be a wasted journey for you. When I went for my 12 week scan I was only 11 weeks (didn't realise) and they couldn't do the scan properly and I had to go back 2 weeks later when I was 13 weeks.

Thanks @rickandmorts I will ring up tomorrow and get clarity on the situation and try and rearrange

If they won’t change it, they will want you to go back as some measurements have to be done at 12/13 weeks.

if they don’t change it you can always view the first one as a bonus extra scan! We had one as I got my dates mixed up

Are you sure it's not your booking in appointment?

bossgirl94 · 12/09/2022 19:38

@ChagSameachDoreen it says nuchal scan appointment?

I doubt they will be interested in your ovulation date as they seem to be fairly fixed on LMP for dating but you could phone and explain or just take it as an extra scan if you're happy to go back again in a few weeks.

They’ll book you back in for another scan so they can do the screening measurement. I’d still go!

Hi OP, very similar happened to me!
By lmp I was 17weeks.. I knew I couldn't be more than 9/10 weeks. Midwife told me they had to go by lmp until I had a scan.
I went for the scan and they dated me at 9+3, they just rebooked me for this Wednesday coming when I will be 12+3.
I found it reassuring having the extra scan (first pregnancy) so would still attend if I were you.
The only downside was that the receptionist and sonographer were both quite annoyed/rude about me being there too early. Not too sure why as surely it doesn't impact on them too much! I did tell them that I was just doing as the midwife told me to and they didn't say much after that.
