Hi, I was hoping to hear from anyone who has had a recent ELCS.
I'm currently pregnant with baby no2 due March. I have discussed having a ELCS as I had an EMCS with DS1 after a traumatic labour/delivery.
I have today received two telephone appointments for when I'm roughly 21weeks both are on the same day with different people. I am presuming this is with a consultant?!
Can anyone share their experience on the appointments they had with an ELCS?
Thanks in advance.

For baby no 2 I only saw my consultant all they way through (was under his care due to blood loss from forceps in first delivery)

he was the only one I told I wanted an ELCS and he sorted me out - this was all pre covid

baby no 3 I have consultant appts again but also a phone call with a birth choices nurse. I explained to my midwife that it’s pointless waste of time as I want another ELCS and consultant is aware but apparently I have to have this phone appt because that’s just the procedure. Don’t think it’s much to worry about and seems like a waste of resource in my case but hey ho

ive youve had 1 CS and want a 2nd I wouldn’t worry about the appt. Might just be diff depts confirming what you want

I had consultant led care with my second c-section. First child was 10lb 5 and I looked on track for another whopper, but she was only 9lb 1 in the end. Oh, and I was over 40.

Consultant led care didn't mean much in my case. The appointment with the consultant was just a tick box exercise where they explain the risks and check you still want to go ahead. I had requested a c-section both times, but there was no push back at all the second time around. I didn't see the consultant again.

Both of my c-sections went well and I have no regrets.

Thanks for all your replies, reassuring this just seems like standard process for most. Agree it seems like a waste of resource and money when I've already had an EMCS and am aware of the risks but I suppose they have to tick the boxes beforehand.
My first section went very well considering the circumstances and I healed/recovered very quickly so fingers crossed the second goes as well.
Thanks everyone
