3rd pregnancy and feeling like rubbish

Anyone else find that with their 3rd pregnancy they had absolutely no energy and caught every bug going?

24 weeks with baby no. 3, we also have a 4 y/o DD and an 11 month old DD.

I'm guessing it's partly the fact that there's a very small gap between baby number 2 and 3, but I just feel like all I've done this pregnancy is curl up on the sofa 😭

The iron deficiency anemia doesn't help either.

I had very low iron on my 1st pregnancy and was very tired all day, fell asleep at 7pm every night! The gp gave me an iron supplement that you can’t take over the counter (over the counter are weak) and I took it with vit C on an empty stomach in the morning. I felt better back to normal in a couple of weeks, a month max.

2nd time now, iron levels are good, still go to sleep early than usual 9-10pm, but only get tired doing stuff, not tired all day.

so I don’t think it’s about the No, of pregnancies, only that the last pregnancy being so close to this one, might have depleted your vitamins.

hope you’re taking something? Ask the dr. if not.

Yes I'm pregnant with my 3rd and have been way more sick this time and have found it such a struggle. My poor DH has been doing everything and I'm disgusted by the amount of takeaways and McDonald's for the DC we've had over the last month because I can't bare to cook or even be in the kitchen. Sad
Here in solidarity!

Been on iron tablets for a while now, they weren't doing anything so they upped the dosage even more. Still don't feel like they're doing anything 🤦‍♀️ my diet is good with vitamin C and foods rich in iron too, it's so frustrating 😭

@EllieRosesMammy are you taking the iron levels with vit C? It massively increases the absorption. together on an empty stomach.

before the gp prescription, I was taking some over the counter liquid iron supplement. The gp said it was too weak to have an effect in my condition and indeed it didn’t do anything. Plus I didn’t know about the vit C until she told me.

wait a few weeks to see the effects

Yeah I take my iron tablets with a glass of fresh orange juice so it should be working. I've been on them months now, had iron deficiency anemia for 5 years, my energy levels never get better 😭 I had a post partum hemmorage with both my previous deliveries too, yet I wasn't offered a blood or iron infusion, and they also "forgot" to hang a bag of fluids and overdosed me on something I'm allergic to... But don't worry they found time to watch tik toks on their phones in the staff room (partner caught them doing that when I asked repeatedly for paracetomal and kept getting forgot about)

I am not looking forward to giving birth at this hospital again but I have no other choice as I'm high risk 🤦‍♀️

Sorry you went through this.

if it never got better in 5 years, yours is more then common anaemia.

i have a friend with Thalassemia but her condition is manageable , she doesn’t need supplements.

you might have this or IRIDA or others.

as your condition didn’t improve in 5 years (!) you’re within your rights to ask for more tests. You might need an iron infusion especially being pregnant. Even if your care is poor, insist and if they still don’t want to do anything, ask how to make a formal complaint to the clinic or hospital trust! That should concentrate their minds. If you weren’t pregnant, I’d say there’d be less emergency but as it is you don’t know how this affects your baby!

Yeah it's getting to the point now where im going to have to make a formal complaint to be taken seriously. I just keep getting fobbed off with iron tablets, been off and on them for 5 years and I never feel any differently, the highest my iron levels ever get to is still at the lowest end of normal, and even then I still feel shitty 🤦‍♀️
