How many calories are yo usupposed to have a day when pregnant???

Does anyone know how many cals a day is the recomanded amount for pregnant women in the last trimester? I heard is was an axtra 200 a day your aloud.

It sounds about right - it's not that many from memory, although try telling that to your stomach!!

All my books say normal diet until 32 weeks and then increase by 400 cals a day.

Disappointingly its an extra 200 cals a day in the last trimester only...of course I am totally disregarding this and am just eating what I fancy though, this is not the time for self-denial, especially when you consider what you have to give up!

Well I'm breastfeeding and I reckon I'm having an extra 500 cals a day. Which doesn't seem to be causing any weight gain, though I have a mahoosive bump already!

I was told 300 cals in second and third trimester by MW though. But she's about 206 so she may be out of date!

Everything I've read says normal till last trimester then extra 200 cals (which is as little as a slice of white bread ).

What I cant figure out though is, if I eat all my portions of calcium, protein, carbs etc I would eat way more than I normally do?!?!?! And, I'm no skinny minny I can tell you.

I just think that all the extra stuff I'm eating must be balance out by the calories in wine that I'm not drinking (although my waistline would beg to differ...).

Less than I've eaten today that's for sure -I am STARVING and only coming up for 10 weeks (about 500 extra I seem to recall - equiv of a pack of sandwiches)

I think you should probably eat what you want to eat. Your body will tell you what it needs (mainly liquorice and avocados in my case, but hey).
