FRER positive after miscarriage

Hi everyone!

I’m new to mumsnet so thanks for having me!

I’ll get straight to the point - on the 19th of august I had a nature MC at 5 weeks. My partner and I decided to start trying straight away after.

tonight I went to the toilet and had some brown discharge, so (with a night wee) I’ve taken a test with a FRER and it is showing a really faint line.

Do you think this is a new pregnancy or HCG from my last pregnancy? I’m only on day 24 of my cycle and usually have a 28 day cycle. I did take a clear blue digital test this morning and it was negative.

Hi @HalWin2221 sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Did you test after and get a bfn? If so this could be a new pregnancy

I did have some issues with frer showing faint bfp after I had a loss but mine was at 12 weeks so probably more hcg to leave the system

I would test again in a few days to see if it's got darker, got my fingers crossed for you x

I didn’t test other than this morning with a ‘weeks’ test. I’m kicking myself now, I was just scared to take another and see ‘pregnant’ still there after the MC.

it’s unlikely to be a new pregnancy.

More likely the brown discharge is your body expelling any lining left over from your pregnancy. I had the same when my miscarriages completed after retained tissue.

FRERs are very sensitive and will pick up everything over HCG 5.

I would call your EPAU for a scan and see if they can check you over so you have a definite answer and check for retained tissue.

Everyone is different but I got a negative test 4 days after my loss at 5 weeks, I'd be inclined to think this might be a new pregnancy and keep testing for the next few days and see if the tests get darker

AF is due Friday, so I’ll see what the tests say over the next couple of days and go from there!

I think I’m just so hoping for this to be a new pregnancy!

I had a miscarriage 3 weeks ago I’m currently pregnant with a new pregnancy it can happen 😊

Im so sorry to hear about your experience.

due to my most recent experience, I have learned that the FRER Tests can detect a beta hcg level of 4, which would mean even less than that in urine. So this might be that you have remaining hcg in your system from previously.
