Anyone told their parents they have herpes

How did they respond? I'm going to tell them the reason I'm getting an elective c section is due to me having herpes and not wanting to take the 1-3% risk of passing the virus to my baby.

Why? I mean its up to you and your relationship with them but I wouldn't want mine knowing.

dmask · 11/09/2022 21:27

If you’re worried about it, and you don’t think it will change anything, then don’t bother. You can have a c-section for whatever reason you want.

CloudPop · 11/09/2022 21:27

Why tell them ?

user1583920194858592910103848559201 · 11/09/2022 21:27

I wouldn't bother telling them. Just say the baby is breech

Hotandbothereds · 11/09/2022 21:28

No, but do you need to explain the reasons? Personally I wouldn’t, I’d there a particular reason you feel you should share this information with them?

Eileen101 · 11/09/2022 21:28

Can't you just say that the decision has been made between you and your consultant that you'll be having a c section and leave it there?

Lottapianos · 11/09/2022 21:28

Why on earth do your parents need to know this? It's intensely private medical information and none of anyone's business but yours

babystar90 · 11/09/2022 21:29

Just say you’ve decided to have a C section…
Why do you want to go into details?

Eileen101 · 11/09/2022 21:29

Or just tell them it's for the baby's safety and not elaborate further?

SpinningFloppa · 11/09/2022 21:30

How odd, why would you, I had a csection because my vbac failed, their are many reasons for needing a csection it’s not like they are going to be “suspicious”
Depends on your relationship i guess but no I wouldn’t have told my parents if I was in this situation

SpinningFloppa · 11/09/2022 21:31

There*

nowayreally · 11/09/2022 21:31

My mum has it so it was easy to tell her I now have it also.
You don't have to tell them why you are having a c-section but do what's best for you

urbanbuddha · 11/09/2022 21:36

What's it got to do with your parents?
