@Skylark1990 wow you’re a total stamina queen! I also had forceps - I had ARM at 1am, a few hours bouncing on the ball to see if I would go into labour naturally (I did but it was very slow), drip at 5am and was 10cm by 2pm. I had no urge to push at all! I did a bit of coached pushing but nothing happened, so forceps. It wasn’t as bad as I expected, she just kind of slid out whereas I was expecting pulling/tugging etc 😱 plus a spinal at that point was AMAZING as it was the first effective pain relief I’d had all day - I asked for an epidural at about 6cm but it didn’t work at all, they may as well have not bothered 😭 it was a positive experience overall and reasonably quick, my community midwife said the other day they usually expect second labours to be about half the length of the third - she thinks about 4 hours for me next time which would be amazing 😆 my obstetrician also said ladies who have had forceps have a 95% chance of a smooth uneventful VB after, so our odds are good!

Skylark1990 · 29/09/2022 14:50

@Cuppasoupmonster wow that is quite quick especially for induction! Was your DD quite small? That's amazing though that it all went well, although not ideal about the epidural not working 😩 but that's great you got a spinal for the final bit. Did you tear? Do you think you would give it a bit longer without the drip this time just to see how you get on? I know they can put time pressure on us when in hospital which is so annoying as sometimes things just take a bit longer.

I was so grateful my epidural worked well 😅 also the anaethitist was so so lovely, I basically fell in love with him. After they'd put it in, I could also feel the contractions as it was lowest setting but just no pain. Dreamy after so many days!

Those are v good odds - haha so if this one is half the time it'll be about 2 days / 8 hours established labour for me. I can totally do that 😅💪

Hi ladies, been struggling past few days with worry about pregnancy. Other than occasional mild nausea, a trip to the loo for a wee every night and sore-ish boobs, I seem to have no big symptoms... Would be easy to forget I'm pregnant at times! Is this normal? My first one (after 4 MCs), so am really unsure. Anyone else not feeling so pregnant at this stage? I'm meant to be 11+3 today.

Cuppasoupmonster · 29/09/2022 15:07

She was quite small - 6lb5 but she was born at 37+0 so average for that gestation if that makes sense? Luckily no tears just an episiotomy, it took a little while to heal but once I discovered chamomile baths it healed a lot faster! I think this time if I start contracting I’ll ask for a little longer to see how it goes, as long as baby is happy. I am aware though that leaving it too long might be counter productive and distress the baby so it’s about balancing everything up isn’t it really. Will you be hiring a pool for your house? I think if I was low risk I’d definitely try for a home birth, it must be lovely to be in familiar surroundings!

DBS94 · 29/09/2022 15:36

@SavedByGraceAlone I was just thinking this morning how much my symptoms are calming down but I think that's partly because our bodies will be getting used to it! I also feel less bloated this week which panics me and I've had no twinges etc x

CinderellaFant · 29/09/2022 16:23

So received my date today for my consultant appointment at 16 weeks and also for my 20 week scan. My hospital seems to be on the ball! 13 weeks now and sickness definitely has improved but still feeling so tired. Can't stay awake past 9pm each night!
I'm going on holiday on Sunday and panicking. I know flying is supposedly safe in pregnancy but there's always that 'what if.' Hope everyone is doing ok!

Longbin · 29/09/2022 16:29

I'm going away on Sunday too @CinderellaFant!

CinderellaFant · 29/09/2022 16:34

Where are you going @Longbin? We are going to Majorca

Biscuitsplease · 29/09/2022 17:06

Silly question probably but is there a point at which you're not allowed to lie on your tummy sleeping, or is it when the bump appears and it's then impractical/uncomfortable?

Cuppasoupmonster · 29/09/2022 17:28

Front sleeping is fine all through pregnancy! It’s back sleeping that is advised against after 16 weeks I think? Even then, you can’t really help what positions you end up in in your sleep, so they say just to roll onto your side if you wake up on your back and not to stress. It’s something to do with the baby lying on the cord.

Longbin · 29/09/2022 18:50

@CinderellaFant lovely!! We are going to Greece

DBS94 · 29/09/2022 18:57

@Biscuitsplease I was thinking this too, I'm a side/front sleeper and was wondering if there would be a point I'd have to try not to! I knew about back sleeping. I'll ask the midwife on Tuesday just to confirm about front sleeping x

AliceinSlumberland · 29/09/2022 19:22

@SavedByGraceAlone I am 11 weeks and I honestly have no symptoms other than tiredness and the odd food aversion. I think it’s totally normal for symptoms to taper off at this point, apparently the placenta kicking in has something to do with it too.

Hannah223344 · 29/09/2022 19:33

Is anyone else feeling quite crampy? I'm 11+5 and this past week I've been feeling quite uncomfortable come the evenings, particularly top of stomach...guess everything is being well stretched?!?

Heath2330 · 29/09/2022 19:35

@Hannah223344 me 🙋‍♀️ 10 weeks 4 days and last few days I've been really crampy and same more so at night but had some during the day today worse when I move or cross my legs so think it might be round ligament pain and stretching plus first pregnancy since csection so not sure if that's making it worse aswell

Biscuitsplease · 29/09/2022 19:44

@DBS94 @Cuppasoupmonster thanks - I'll continue to sleep on my front then until it becomes uncomfortable! :)

Hannah223344 · 29/09/2022 19:53

@Heath2330 mine seems to be worse in the evening to, I was just sat with my legs crossed so have uncrossed them now 😂 ... I'm also 10+5, not 11 yet 🤦🏼‍♀️ (wishing 12w to come around!)

Heath2330 · 29/09/2022 19:54

@Hannah223344 yeah me too can't wait for the scan lol hoping that will put the worry at bay a little I think I'm gunna be crampy all the way through because of my scar though 🤦‍♀️

Longbin · 29/09/2022 20:13

Probably unlikely, but has anyone been pregnant soon after a laparoscopy before?

Hannah223344 · 29/09/2022 20:18

@Heath2330 not long to go now, good luck for your scan!

bluebubbles12 · 29/09/2022 20:31

My notes say my labour was 97 minutes last time (mild contractions started about 10 hours earlier, but I managed to sleep quite well through them) so the 97 minutes was how long I was in hospital for before my daughter was born. If it does halve next time that doesn't leave us much time 🤣

Margo34 · 29/09/2022 21:34

@SavedByGraceAlone me 🙋‍♀️11+2 and not really feeling any particular symptoms either. It's worrying me! One week til scan for me and it can't come soon enough 🙏

Has anyone else got an unmistakable bump yet? I took pictures throughout pregnancy with DC1 and comparatively, my body looks the same now at 11+2 as I did at 23w before!!!! 🙈

EMcG3 · 29/09/2022 22:18

I have a real bee in my bonnet about the back sleeping thing. Your baby can be lying on an important vein which can reduce your blood pressure and the idea is that it can reduce blood flow to the uterus. A number of studies have shown that few women are actually impacted by this. I was one of the women who was and my goodness, I would not have accidentally rolled onto my back in the middle of the night. It was like a fire alarm going off inside my body and I had to move immediately. All this to say, if you are impacted, your body is likely to make you noisily aware of that fact. If you roll onto your back at night by accident, you are likely not impacted by the underlying blood flow issue, so just roll over and don't worry about it. There are other reasons to maybe not choose back sleeping as your primary sleeping position, but the research there is not (yet) conclusive.

Longbin · 29/09/2022 22:27

@EMcG3 did it make you feel dizzy?

ancienthouse · 29/09/2022 22:31

@Heath2330 my scar has been pulling, tugging, aching too. I guess it makes sense with the uterus stretching but it's worrying sometimes! The only thing worrying me about a VBAC is the risk of scar rupture, but I know the risk is low.

@bluebubbles12 wow, it just shows how different labour can be! From the time my first contractions started to baby being born was almost 5 days and I couldn't sleep through them. I was in active labour for around 21 hours. And then ended up with a section anyway!
