Put on a lot of weight and only 20 weeks…

I’m 20 + 5 and feel really down about how much weight I’ve put on. I know everyone is different but I’ve put on about a stone and a half and I’m only half way through. It’s my second pregnancy and with my first I put on a lot more weight towards the end so I’m worried about how much bigger I will get!
I still have quite bad nausea and the only thing that helps is to eat carbs, so whilst I try and eat healthier I find it so hard when I’m feeling sick all day long and the only thing that helps is eating!

Has anyone experienced anything similar or have words of wisdom? How can I slow this weight gain down?

Are you still exercising and getting plenty of water?

Is it worth speaking to a GP about the nausea and potentially getting some medication for it? I was eating a lot of carbs to try and stop nausea (didn't really help tbh) and raised this as a concern and it was dismissed by the GP but then my Hba1c levels came back higher than they should have done (normally eat very healthily and do lots of exercise which wasn't happening) and they got twitchy about gestational diabetes...

Fortunately once I had medication to control the nausea I could eat normally again and get active and the blood glucose levels sorted themselves out (as did weight gain - now tracking similar weight gain to pregnancy 1).

Following as I’m exactly the same….24 weeks and gained a stone and a half already 😩

@Weathergirl1 thank you for the advice :) I’m actually already on anti nausea medication but it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference! I might to go to GP and ask about Hba1c levels as I’m feeling so unhealthy, there might be a different anti nausea medication that works! I hope when I can eat more normally and be more active I can get some control on it

@Jaaxe i feel your pain, it’s hard seeing your body change!

@Nelly040 if your meds aren't working definitely go and ask for different ones. I had three different prescriptions before finally getting something that controlled it (and even then it still came back if I was late with a dose).

I gained in 2/3 of my pregnancy's, the 3rd I knew I was having a planned section and wanted to minimise my risks as much as possible which meant bot gaining any more fat than what I had! So I calorie counted eating my maintenance calories only, I gained 1.5 stone and baby was 10 pounds Smile

I am 26 + 4 and have put on pretty much 2 stone at this point...it seems like a lot and I'm at the heaviest I've ever been but I'm also growing a tiny human and have lots of extra water, fat etc in my body. Everyone is different, some might need to gain weight and others might need to lose it but at the end of the day as long as you're eating and drinking enough and getting some sort of physical activity in (only time I get 'exercise' really is walking to and from work and its not even that long) then no need to worry
