Hi everyone! I’m very new to this so I’m sorry if there is already a discussion on this already! I’m not great with the abbreviations either 😅 My partner and I had been trying for over 3 years and last year we were diagnosed with unexplained infertility. We were messed around quite a lot but then eventually found out my partner was producing antibodies which basically killed his own sperm! Flash forward to now and we are due to start our ICSI treatment this month and I’m so nervous! I’ve always been a bit nervous of anything to do with having children and the physical side of it so obviously this is causing me more anxiety! I just wanted to see if anyone had a similar journey or is going through the process now? I know it’s going to be an emotional rollercoaster and I’m naturally quite a negative person so do worry about any risks of the treatment! Thanks everyone xxx

Yes trying to stay positive but realistic. No we haven't, I didn't even know that was a thing x

Aw @Lizzie989 I'm so glad the egg retrieval went well for you!!! It's reassuring as the time is going so fast for me now. Wow they must be strong! Sending lots of luck! Keep us posted and take it easy xxx

We could pay for this service which meant that they didn't 'open' the incubator so many times - or so we were told. Think it was around £450 but they might do this as standard now. We could then provide a usb stick to watch what happened. I decided at the time not to do that as I felt that it would be more salt for the winds if unsuccessful.
BUT after having my second I contacted the clinic and they were amazing. They gave us the recording of those 5 days of our two (and the two unsuccessful blastocysts they were implanted with) and the embryologist who we met was the person who 'froze' my little boy and she was over the moon to meet him as she'd never met one of her ....I'm not really sure how to name him pieces of work, experiments, errr?!?!
I was strangely a little emotional AND we now have another piece of their story.

So funnily enough we went out with a group of people last night and we met a couple who had been through ICSI and their daughter was born 3 months ago. She showed me this video of the cells dividing and it was such a beautiful thing to see!! I definitely want to do it!!

@Lizzie989 how are you getting on? Xxx

Lizzie989 · 25/10/2022 14:45

Unfortunately it didn't work for us this time. I've given up now, I can't go through this again xx

I'm so sorry @Lizzie989 - it's so tough emotionally and physically. Have some time for you so you can heal xxx

Be kind to yourself and your OH. Grieve - because that's what you need to do.
