As the title suggests! Opinions on whether 37 weeks would be too late for a baby shower? For my friends second baby, 1st was a bit overdue, just wondered if it'd be too uncomfortable for her by then, but then again most people are still working at that point 🤔when is the norm? Thanks in advance.

I don't think it's normal to have a baby shower for a second baby?

No time is good for a baby shower. Awful things.

Yes it's too late in my opinion. Anything from 37 weeks is classed as term, and I certainly wouldn't have wanted to be doing anything too exciting at that point.

But yes as PP said, it's unusual to do one at all for someone's second baby.

I had mine at 38 weeks 🤣

Mummy4lyf · 09/09/2022 11:37

Is it? I had one for my second (a surprise one) and other friends did too! Didn't realise that was u usual 🤭
I know not everyone likes them, but it's our choice its just a little get together in our busy lives before another newborn enters the mix!

I am 36 weeks pregnant with my second and had one for my first but didn’t want one this time round.

Maybe your friend doesn’t want a baby shower which is why she hasn’t organised one. I wouldn’t be ecstatic if one was organised for me this late.

I love baby showers for any baby, which is very un-Mumsnet of me. People who find them naff or uncomfortable don't have to come.

I think it totally depends on your friend. It's probably more usual to have them a bit earlier but if she's happy with it then it's fine.

I was in hospital with both of mine at 37 weeks, so yeah. Too late. About a month to 6 weeks earlier feels about right.
