Mamas....

My first DC is due.... TODAY!!!! (Omg!!!)

I know this sounds silly but I don't know what to do with myself!!

I've finished working, bf at work and no other DC.

How did you spend your due day? Any ideas welcome?

Hugs xxxxxxxxxx

Oh my goodness, treat yourself! Read a book, watch a whole film without being interrupted, go for a lovely coffee, maybe a swim if you feel up to it. Do something lovely- whatever you most enjoy doing, and make the most of it! Congratulations and good luck :)

The Olympics was on so I spent the day watching that! However I think the only thing on tv today will be Queen coverage so probably not what you want to do. Take a nap, watch a movie, go for a short walk? Just chill and have a day doing not very much, you'll miss those when baby is here!

Oh and I went two weeks overdue so you may have a while yet to find things to do!

Good luck! X

Firstly congratulations!
With my first we visited friends for lunch, went for a long walk then had a normal evening, dinner, tv. Most significant is that I had a complete turnaround on our chosen boy's name. Decided I didn't want it anymore so we spent hours thinking of a name, should baby had been a boy. Still undecided.
Next day I drank castor oil as was so uncomfortable (20 yrs ago!) Would not recommend it!
I went three days over and had a girl so she had a name.
Second time, we knew he was a boy and on my due date I already had him, born three days earlier.
Babies are rarely born on their due date, I believe most first babies are 'late'.
Hope you have your baby in your arms very soon x

With my first the nesting was strong, I spent it taking stuff to the dump! DH did all the lifting obviously! Depending on how you are feeling, a swim might make you feel better as it makes you feel nice and light. Then grab whatever treats you fancy and snuggle up at home, watch a film, read a book.

I'd love to swim but I worry about waters breakkng in the pool and not knowing!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Totally get the nesting thing. I woke up last night and had such a strong urge to clean my bathroom window. If my bf wasn't sleeping, I would have totally done it hahaha x

Only 4% of babies are born on their due date, so the odds are against you going into labour today!

I’d go for a lovely walk in the Autumn sunshine and meet a friend for lunch or coffee/cake. I planned and booked the things for after my due date with all my pregnancies. People were very understanding if I needed to cancel, and it was better than having nothing to do during the wait!

Ooooh coffee & cake sounds so good! Yes it's a wierd one making plans isn't it!! 🤣🤣 I have to prefix everything with (if baby isn't here......) hahaha

I’d go for a big walk and enjoy a coffee on the way round, have lunch out with a friend then a very lazy afternoon watching tv or reading 😊

Randommother · 09/09/2022 06:27

When my eldest was due I went to Carphone Warehouse to get a new phone and contract - something that used to take forever, with lots of high pressured up-selling. The sales guy asked when I was due, and I said, “I don’t mean to alarm you, but it’s today”, honestly he couldn’t get me out of there fast enough!! It was the easiest, fasted phone contract I’ve ever brought 😂

hugoagogo · 09/09/2022 06:29

Go back to bed.

Hahah this is brilliant! A similar thing happened to me yesterday in the nail salon.... poor young girl doing my nails looked very concerned 🤣🤣🤣

Ooh congratulations! I’m due number 2 any day. My eldest was born on her due date! Mind due I went into labour at like 1am that day!

i really recommend a solo trip to the cinema if there’s anything on you fancy! I love doing that mid week!

but generally rest and eat a curry haha

Ooooh wow!! You're due any day too. It's just so exciting isn't it!

I'm currently in bed eating ice cubes (my wierd craving) and pumping colostrum as I've heard it's good for inducing 😂😂

I hope you're managing to get some good rest 💕💕

Pinktruffle · 09/09/2022 10:04

Eating/craving ice cubes is often a sign of an iron deficiency, you might need to take iron tablets, particularly post-birth.

Enjoy the day, relax and do anything that you really enjoy as during the newborn days, any you time will go totally out of the window! Enjoy a nice long shower, spoil yourself a little. All things I missed in the days after having my first -particulalry the luxury of a long shower and using nice products for my hair and skin, everything was rush rush and my hair in particular was very neglected!

Wanda616 · 09/09/2022 10:06

Definitely watch films. Go to the cinema if you can. Strangely, it was absolutely yonks before I was able to get back to the cinema after having my baby and I really missed it.

AllThatAndMore · 09/09/2022 10:09

Congratulations! I hated pregnancy but I miss the excitement of the waiting game! With my first I worked up until the very end and was sending off a handover note as I was in labour hahaha! With second I left my first in nursery and went on an early maternity leave and really enjoyed those last few days . I got a luxurious pedicure two days before I went into labour and that was money well spent ! I mostly remember laying in bed googling everything lol! Enjoy this time 😊

oreobiscitz · 09/09/2022 12:46

I went out for a lovely lunch! Lay on sofa
Try and nap in case labour starts

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 09/09/2022 12:52

Go to the cinema alone! That's what I did and it was so lovely and restful, felt like a proper treat.

RobertJohnsonsShoes · 09/09/2022 13:36

Watch as much comedy as you possibly can. Gets the oxytocin flowing and tells that baby it's eviction time
