I'm currently 5 weeks and wondering whether to get an early private scan or not (I probably will because I want to make sure everything is okay and can't believe it's real)

But just wanting to know when others had their first scan either private or on NHS

I had a bleed at 6+1 so had an emergency scan then and they could see the heartbeat (and ruled out ectopic). I had IVF though so I knew my dates exactly. Even then it's still the earliest to see a heartbeat so I wouldn't have had it until at 7 or 8 weeks if it wasn't for the bleed.

I had mine at 12 weeks. I only ever had the NHS scans. As much as I wanted early reassurance scans (and then one at 16 weeks etc) I couldn't justify the cost. The wait was horrible, but in the long run I'm not sure how much extra scans would have helped - I'd have just gone back to fretting that something had gone wrong after the scan and would have wanted another...

I had a private scan at 8 weeks 3 days. I'm due my NHS 12 week scan on Tuesday where I'll be around 13 weeks 🥰 x
