How long after the head engaged did you go into labour?

I am due in 2 weeks and been told the head isn’t engaged yet. I read online for first time Mums the baby usually arrives 2-4 weeks after head engagement, just wondering if this is accurate at all.

When I had my second baby her head wasn't even engaged after my waters had broken. So they kept me in due to the risk of the cord coming out before her head. Good job really as she was born an hour later!

When did you give birth to your 2nd out of curiosity? Thanks 😊

Engaged when my waters broke for my first, then born within a day. Waters broke on due date.

Head engaged at 36 weeks with my first, he was born exactly 42 weeks after three sweeps and eventually an EMCS 🙄 despite every single midwife telling me he was going to come 'any minute now' for a month 😂

Third baby due, now 37+4 and LO is still not engaged at all. Mw said it's very, very common for baby not to be engaged until labour.

Goodluck OP 😌

Baby's head was engaged from 36 weeks, I was induced at 38 weeks and when I went in I was already 3-4cm and they were able to break my waters. They did say I probably would've gone into labour naturally myself within the next few days. Whether that had to do with how engaged LO was though I'm not sure. I was drinking raspberry leaf tea, eating dates, lots of nipple stimulation and constantly watching things that got oxytocin flowing so that all could've helped too!

DD1 and DD2 didn't engage until I was in labour (although they were both back to back )
DS1 was engaged last week, and is breech now at 35 weeks 🙈

6 weeks, head engaged and baby dropped at 36 weeks. Baby born via emergency csection at 42 weeks

My son couldn’t be bothered engaging until right up to the last minute. He’s 13 now and much the same with anything important.

Absolute dream of a birth though.

My baby has been engaged about a week I’m 37 weeks and I’m so uncomfortable, but still in 1 piece. My consultant thinks 7-10 days and my baby will come

Nellle · 06/09/2022 21:05
