How much peanut butter is ok to have in pregnancy? Gestational diabetes

Is it ok to have peanut butter (a small amount) with each meal? I have gestational diabetes and I’m finding that having some peanut butter with every meal (and occasionally with ice cream) is helping to control my blood glucose levels.

I ate masses of it, plus walnuts, pecans etc. Nuts and cheese (baked Camembert 😋) were the things that brought my blood sugar levels down. All was fine

Choose one with no added sugar

Thanks guys! It is one with no added sugar, it’s sooo good especially with ice cream 😍 I have oppo ice cream some nights with a bit of peanut butter and omg that’s so good 😋 I eat lots of nuts too through the day, partly because I don’t know what else to snack on and I don’t like cheese too much. 😂

I ate bags of roasted peanuts - probably half a bag a day - after being diagnosed with GD.

I ate granary bread with sugar free peanut butter between meals when I had gestational diabetes. I just couldn’t get enough of it.

I ate sugar free PB every day with GD. Baby is 4 weeks old now and I had it today for the first time since he was born….forgot how good it is!

PS the dessert recipes on the GD UK website are good. I particularly liked the banoffee pie….made a good change from Oppo…

Irs the ice cream I would worry about more

Peanut butter has a great affect on bloodsugars keep they down I'm type 1 but I hate peanut butter lol

magnoliasinbloom · 06/09/2022 09:08

I eat so much almond butter 5 days into a GD diagnosis - on seed crackers, with granny smith apples etc. There's so few indulgent foods (can't stomach eating cheese and double cream endlessly) we are allowed that I don't feel bad about it!

TrashPandas · 06/09/2022 09:13

I'm a type 1 diabetic. Nuts don't raise glucose and PB is just nuts, oil, and salt. Go to town!
