Bleeding after internal scan at 7 weeks

Hello, I just wondered if anyone else had similar experiences and could perhaps offer some reassurance! Today I had a transvaginal scan at 7w 1d, and saw a beautiful heartbeat! After 3 miscarriages, this was a very happy, and unexpected moment! However, this evening I’ve noticed brown spotting in my underwear. Could this just be from the scan? Has anyone else experienced this? I’m praying it doesn’t get heavier, but after my initial few hours of happiness, I’m terrified again. Thank you in advance for any replies.

I had this with my current pregnancy, it started with spotting and then turned to full blood when I wiped so got referred for another scan with the NHS a week later. All was fine - apparently your cervix is very delicate in pregnancy and can bleed after internal scans and after sex. I’m now 17 weeks 😊

@Sussex34 Thank you, I needed to hear this. I’m trying so hard to not worry over what I can’t change, but it’s not working too well! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy, nearly half way!

I find pregnancy is 40 weeks of constant worry so I know how you feel 😆 You’ll settle in to it a bit more after each scan. Best of luck X

Me. I had a scan at 7+4 due to some spotting and one sided pain. Saw the heartbeat and all was fine. A few hours later the spotting turned to red bleeding and I was beside myself with worry and EPU refused to scan me again. Booked a private scan for two days later (still spotting) and baby was still fine :) I’m now 37 weeks. I think the internal scan really irritated my cervix. Keep an eye on it but it can definitely be normal.

@Moonshine160 Thank you for the reassurance. I just can’t imagine I get to be this lucky, and it’s ok. Keeping everything crossed though, and trying not to think too negatively. And good luck with your new arrival, not long now! ☺️
