Pain in early pregnancy - scared

Hi all,
First post... hoping for reassurance.
I'm 6+4 with first pregnancy and have been quite crampy since before I even tested positive... but the last few days it's been getting worse. Like bad period pains, central rather than one side, but doesn't really ease off even with rest, changing positions etc. Getting hard to sleep. Occasionally I also get really stabbing pains (when I stand, for example.)
I phone the EPU yesterday, expecting to be told I was overreacting and it was normal, but they had me come in. I was there for 3 hours, by which time it was too late to scan and they want me to come back this afternoon.
The Dr yesterday talked a lot about miscarriage, and ectopic pregnancy.
I'm so scared. We were lucky in that we had only been TTC since Easter, but the news brought so much happiness and now I'm terrified were going to find out it's gone, or going.
Anyone else had this level of pain in the early weeks?

I’ve not had your experience @NervyNoob but just wanted to say hope it goes well for you today. x

Thanks @SiberFox. I saw your message just before the scan and really appreciated it.
Thankfully, not only was it in the right place but they were able to detect a teeny tiny heartbeat... so it seems the pain is normal for me. They prescribed quite strong painkillers which I'm not comfortable taking now I know it's currently viable! So I'll just keep on with paracetamol and self care, and rest a bit easier knowing that so far the little dot is OK x

Oh that must be a relief @NervyNoob Hope you start feeling better soon and fingers crossed for a smooth pregnancy. Having had 2 MCs I do understand the worry that comes from all the pains and twinges.. But having reached 14 weeks this time, think I'm starting to get used to them! x
