Hi - just reading about the poor lass with horrid morning sickness with 3rd child..... which was your worst? Mine was by far the worst with the last one (3rd) and 2 friends I have asked to far have agreed. Is there something about no3?

Could be worse because you are more tired having two other childen to look after whilst pregnant? I always found it was worse the more tired I was.

Horrible horrible thing morning sickness. And I always thought 'morning' in the description was misleading. I used to have it all day at times

LynetteScavo · 22/01/2008 14:06

Morning sickness was slightly better with each pregnancy because I learned to manage it.

lucy5 · 22/01/2008 14:06

Hardly any with first and whole nine months virtually with the second.

cluckyagain · 22/01/2008 14:08

Lynette - how did you manage it? I had regular snacks (followed by regular vomiting!), tried hard not to cook (vomit), didn;t wear perfume (vomit), wore seasickness bands (less likely to vomit), drank ice cold tonic water (burped so didn't need to vomit!) Tell me your secret (waggles hands on stylee of old gypsy fortuneteller!)

I cut out all refined sugar. Took vit 6 tablets. Kept hydtated, ie drank lots of water.

I was by no means vomit free, but cutting out the sugar really helped. Lots of early nights, which probably goes without saying.

Pinchypants · 22/01/2008 14:32

Lynette, I have a sneaky feeling I'd feel better if I cut out the refined sugar but it seems to be what my body is asking for. I'm also dehydrated as drinks seem to make me feel worse. And it's much, much worse this time round (number two) than DD. Possibly because lie-ins and afternoon naps are a thing I can only dream of with a toddler...

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 22/01/2008 14:34

I have been pg four times and only had morning sickness with number 2, my only girl. I was sick once with DS1 (1st pg) and don't remember being at all with DS2. Probably felt it each time though.

rosybud · 22/01/2008 14:37

Had it very badly with both pregnancies and was prescribed metoclopramide which helped a great deal.
But it went on longer with dd (2nd pregnancy) than ds and I was still vom even on max dose of pills with dd.

dejags · 22/01/2008 14:40

Not too bad for no1 and no2. Absolutely, absolutely revolting morning sickness with no3 (my only girl).

LynetteScavo · 22/01/2008 14:54

Pinchy Pants, I really understand what you mean a bout your body seeming to be asking for sugar. I ask soooo much chocolate with DS1, adn it didn't even taste nice. Believe me, it works. I kow the drinking is hard, I struggled with that, but avoid becoming dehydrated if you possibly can. Small regular sips maybe?

I'm sooo happy I never have to suffer with this again!

You all have my deepest sympathy!

cluckyagain · 22/01/2008 16:42

Lynette - that's really interesting as with no3 I couldn;t stomach anything sweet - craved meat and green veg and any carbs reappeared as if by magic (much like MR Benn!) I'm not pg but am trying for no4 and desperately hoping it won;t be as bad as no3 (hmmmm - likely- I think not!) Rosybud - what is metaclopramide - can you just go to drs and get it and are there any side effects? (please don't say nausea!!!)

Both sons gave me all-morning-and-sometimes-all-day sickness from week 6 till the day I gave birth.
Which was worse? Good god I am not even going to try and compare. Its a part of baby bearing that I can't even contemplate raking up in my memory banks!

JingleyJen · 22/01/2008 17:02

had MS with DS1 from before I pee'd on a stick until the minute he was born, sick 3-4 times a day constant nausea lost 2.5 stone during pregnancy.
Same start with DS2 but it all stopped like a swtich had been flicked at 9 weeks, I rushed to EPU as I was determined babe was gone, all was well, no more sickness from then onwards.

fruitful · 22/01/2008 17:09

I didn't have it with 1 & 2 - just a bit of mild queasiness. With no3 I was feeling horribly sick before I even did the test. It was a bit of a shock as I'd assumed that I didn't get morning sickness!

rosybud · 22/01/2008 23:39

cluckyagain, Metoclopramide is an anti-nausea drug used for all sorts of things quite often in chemo patients too.
I had very sympathetic docs who had no problem prescribing it for me as i was sick all day and night up to 5/6 times an hour.
I could not move without retching and slept cradling a bucket i kid you not!!
I was reassured that it was perfectly safe and I was so grateful i barely thought twice about taking it.
Good luck with ttc, I am hoping to conceive no. 3 soon, obviously the morning sickness memories have faded enough!
Also, the only side effect of the metoclopramide is it makes you very tired, hmmm as if you weren't already!!

WendyWeber · 22/01/2008 23:51

I had nothing at all with first, severe nausea (all day) but no throwing up with 2nd, and just felt like deth (but not as bad as 2nd) with 3rd and 4th.

Any nausea only from weeks 6-13 approx though.

HTH

spugs · 23/01/2008 08:55

dd1 - threw up twice but never felt sick

dd2 - felt ill every morning from 6 - 12 weeks was sick fairly often

dd3 - felt ill all day every day from 5 - 11 weeks not sick once

not sure which was worse between dd2 & 3

rmadley · 23/01/2008 09:42

Had almost constant nausea from week 6-13 with ds with occasional vomiting. With this pregnancy, I had constant nausea from week 6-16 with regular vomiting (sometimes several times a day), so definitely worse second time around. I definitely think I felt worse because of having an energetic toddler to look after rather than being able to rest whenever I could with first pg.

cluckyagain · 23/01/2008 14:14

Rosybud - eek - that's rough! Thanks guys - I may not be worse if no4 happens then (God willing), although it looks like I won't get away with nothing!!lol

OrmIrian · 23/01/2008 14:16

My second was worse than my first and my third was the worst of all. Having said that my 'worse' was just nausea on and off throughout the day. Not often actually sick.

numptysmummy · 23/01/2008 14:18

Was worse with the girls - thats how i knew what they were. 2nd daughter (lo no4) was worse than the first dd (lo no1) though, mainly because i was so tired - that made it worse each time. I get evening sickness!
