Exhaustion - 1st Trimester

Morning all,

I’m currently 6.5 weeks pregnant (first pregnancy). I’m finding the exhaustion quite debilitating and it’s impacting my ability to work.

Any magic advice on how to address or, alternatively, did you tell your management at this stage given similar early symptoms?

Thanks.

Nap when you can (if you can) super early to bed in the evening, healthy diet and lots of water. Unfortunately a very normal part of the first trimester 😫

I told my manager early as I couldn't keep my eyes open by the afternoon. Luckily I worked from home and work very flexible so I'd disappear for a nap on my lunch break and just log back on in the afternoon to finish my day

Thanks both. I think I’m going to have to tell my boss as this isn’t sustainable!

I had three naps in one day sometimes! I had to lie down constantly because of my nausea. Could not keep my eyes open. Get signed off for a couple of weeks if you have to - I did!

sleep and nap whenever possible. it does lift, but so exhausting.

I feel your pain, but I am starting to slightly feel better now, I am 11 weeks today. I was going to bed by 8pm every night, getting 12 hours sleep and still having to nap in the afternoons ugh! X

I'm exactly the same! 6 weeks tomorrow and constantly feeling exhausted and hungover.

I had to tell my boss yesterday as I couldn't get out of bed.

I just keep telling myself our bodies are amazing and we are growing an entire human. Let's cut ourselves some slack and accept naps are our best friends!
