Hi all

I'm pregnant again after an early miscarriage in May. First pregnancy, no children. I'm absolutely overwhelmed with anxiety as I just don't feel pregnant. My boobs aren't sore, I don't feel sick, I'm tired (but that's normal for me!). I'm just so terrified I'm going to miscarry again. I know no one can guarantee I won't but is it normal not to feel anything at this stage?

Thanks so much

I felt the exact same all the way through the first trimester. I even cried to DP about wanting to ‘feel pregnant’ 😂 I had no morning sickness, just a couple of weeks between weeks 7-9 I think it was when I felt so tired and hungover every day.

FWIW I’m 26 weeks now with a very big bump and very strong kicks all day… and I still don’t believe I’m pregnant 🤣

I didn't feel anything til I was 7 weeks when the nausea hit. I think it's very normal not to feel anything at your stage. I understand your anxiety though, I hope it all works out for you.

Thank you so much for replying. I'm just so terrified that no symptoms means I must be about to miscarry again and it's breaking me! I'd just really like sore boobs or a little nausea to know...!

Forgot to say, my boobs didn’t really start feeling sore until about week 6/7. Some people just have hardly any symptoms/fluctuating symptoms. Every pregnancy is different, but it’s understandable that you’re feeling the way you are after your previous loss.

I remember every day in the first trimester felt like a milestone! Just try and take it one day at a time and remember that today you are pregnant. And congratulations. X

@Laro23

You poor thing. I've been there, my first pregnancy was a MMC.

Try to remember you have basically just missed a period. It's more common that not to have absolutely no symptoms. For most people, they kick in about 6 weeks but not for everyone

People test so early now too, it makes it hard. In my case I went for an early scan at about 8 weeks & that helped reassure me.

I see so many posters here going for super-early scans. I always feel that's not very useful. Often there's not much to be seen, heartbeat not visible, so it's really worth holding out & distracting yourself.

I'm 17 weeks now and all along have had no symptoms, there is now a hint of a bump but I still don't look or feel pregnant. Hoping that when baby starts moving it'll become more real

SiberFox · 31/08/2022 20:50

My only symptom of pregnancy at 4 weeks was tiredness. Things ramped up later on! You are still very early. Totally understand the worry after losses (had 2 MCs myself before current PG) but the odds are still on your side x

Daisychainsx · 31/08/2022 20:51

I started to feel pregnant about 3 days ago when my bump appeared... I'm 16 weeks! I had sickness and every symptom going during the first trimester, but I still didn't really feel pregnant, I just felt sick 😆

Daisychainsx · 31/08/2022 20:58

I think the first trimester is just the most worrying time ever. Being pregnant is definitely the most terrifying thing I've ever done. But you'd worry with symptoms and you'd worry without them, and time my sickess passed for a day or even an hour i was convinced it was over. I had a scan at 6+5 and one at 9 weeks... they reassured me for all of 5 minutes and then I was back to worrying. It's so hard to relax but I guess the only thing that helped me was knowing there was diddly squat I could do aside from eat healthy and take my vitamins. So that's what I did (although I fell of the healthy wagon too many times to count).
You're so early on that your body probably hasn't started to do too much yet, I was 6 weeks before my symptoms started, and before I knew it I had to quit my job because it was so bad 😆 so enjoy the symptom free days, they may not last for too much longer!

Thank you all SO much. I thought I'd feel overjoyed being pregnant again - feel so sad that it's just pure anxiety and worry and fear. Really reassuring to hear all your experiences. Thank you so much 💗

Most women don't "feel" pregnant that early. The first symptom for most women is the late period. Even when the nausea etc starts, you don't feel pregnant, you just feel sick.

If we could rely on "feeling" pregnant, we wouldn't need tests.

I’m 9 weeks today. I don’t feel pregnant, just feel very very ill. I was super tired from week 4 then the nausea and vomiting started week 6. It felt a little more real when I had my first midwife appointment.

Keha · 31/08/2022 23:15

Sickness and tiredness hit at about 6 weeks for me. I was none the wiser at 4.

Laro23 · 01/09/2022 08:11

Thank you so much everyone. I just would've thought I'd have sore boobs or SOMETHING at this point and that's what's making me so nervous! I'm desperately trying to avoid taking more tests as I think it'll just make me more anxious.
