Me and my partner are currently going through ivf she has no fertility issues we have had to use a sperm donor on my behalf. We managed to get 6 embryos that are currently frozen and recently had one placed back inside hoping it would attach to the uterus. So they tell you to wait 2 weeks before taking a pregnancy test but we couldn’t resist and tested on day 9 day 10 day 11 day 12 day 13 and the original test day day 14 and each day we got a positive pregnancy result but then we took one the day after and it came back negative so we booked in for a blood test to confirm this. Then today we took another test and it was negative but heard back from the clinic to confirm the pregnancy through the blood test. But I am concerned why we are not getting negative test results has anyone else been through this

So the clinic contacted you to say she was pregnant? Did they tell you the hcg level? Are they retaking bloods after 48 hours to see if hcg is doubling? Some tests are more sensitive to hcg levels than others, so it might mean hcg levels aren't high enough for those tests to detect the reading.

Hi yes the clinic have said the bloods confirm pregnant and in order to show us there is nothing to worry about they will do another blood test this Friday we had bloods yesterday and was told pregnant so they will do more on Friday. They didn’t tell us the hcg level as they said they are waiting for a doctor to sign the results to be able to send to us by email but she said the hcg level is exactly where it needs to be at the stage of this pregnancy and they are happy with this no concerns. But my gut tells me that the embryo implanted hence the positive tests but then after so long stopped growing for some reason. As for the pregnancy test we used the same test as we got positive results from aswel so this is what baffles me

At this very early stage your results might be feint positive one day and negative the next. It's because the small levels of HCG being detected can be diluted with an extra drink you may have had. Or for the first test you may have been slightly dehydrated.

Trust the blood test and definitely have the second blood test on Friday. Ask them to tell you the HCG levels of both tests.

Hi thanks for your reply it’s all the waiting and the unsureness that is stressing us out but we will defo go for our second blood test and hopefully it will show some sort of increase. If not then I guess I can put it down to the embryo did implant and started to grow hence the surge to show the positive test but then it stopped growing and failed and the hcg levels dropped hence the negative test. But I will have to wait till Friday 😒

Try to relax and not flood your body with anxiety. I know it easier said than done.

Focus on meditation and relaxation.

I've been where you are now many times. My first embryo transfer baby is now in his mid 20's!

Hoping your Friday results will be increased HCG Wink

Just to echo the previous poster, at the early stages sometimes levels aren't picked up on tests, particuarly if they aren't the first response tests. What you'll want to see on Friday is that the hcg levels have doubled. The doubling every 48 hours is a sign all is progressing as it should. I know it's difficult to wait. I've been through a couple of rounds of ivf myself.

Thanks for commenting I know it’s the waiting around bit that’s the hardest we have our second lot of bloods tomorrow and they said they would tell us by Saturday so I’m just hoping for good news from them and maybe I can stop panicking so much
