Brown stringy discharge - early pregnancy :(

Hi all

I guess I’m just posting to get my feelings out and maybe find some reassurance. I am 4 weeks and 5 days pregnant and I have been spotting brown blood for the last two weeks, sometimes with stringy bits in it.

I had a missed miscarriage last November. I started brown spotting at 7 weeks, with stringy bits in it, but didn’t miscarry until I was about 11 weeks and it’s only then the bleeding turned red.

So, I assume the same is happening again, only the spotting has started earlier this time. I know some may say it could be implantation but it’s been going on for over two weeks now and I don’t think there is meant to be stringy stuff in implantation bleeding. I feel very pregnant, and it’s exactly how I felt last time. Basically last time my body carried on as if I was pregnant the whole time even though I had a started to miscarry.

The epu and doctors were awful last time, I won’t go into that but I know they won’t see me. I think I will just have to wait until I’m about 6 to 7 weeks and book a private scan to confirm there is a problem. It’s just rubbish not knowing, and if I miscarrying, I’m worried my body will do the same as last time and take ages for everything to come out. They wouldn’t give me the options of taking medication last time because of covid and said I had to wait for my body to miscarry naturally - not sure if that’s any different now.

just wondering if anyone is or has been in the same situation? Think I just need a bit of a hand hold really :( thank you xxx

Really sorry you are going through this and your previous miscarriage.
Are you still testing positive? Have your tests got lighter/darker?
It really is so hard to say at this point. The only thing I can say is brown blood is usually old.
I have had red bleeds in this pregnancy and I am almost 38 weeks now.
I would also get a private scan at 7/8 weeks so you know for sure.

Hi op.
I've had this twice. The first led to a miscarriage. The 2nd time is now a 24 week bump. I can't remember the exact reason for the bleeding but I went to the epu. I was so shocked to see a happy heartbeat I didnt take anything in but it was something to do with my cervix lining. It lasted approx 2 weeks. I hope you get a happy outcome.

Thank you @MyloC I only tested on Monday, I am trying to wait until the weekend before testing again as I don’t want to drive myself crazy testing every day - easier said than done but I’m trying!! Thank you and amazing that you’re now 38 weeks, all the best to you and your new baby xx

Thank you @Putdownthecake that’s definitely good to know. It’s so hard to understand how your body can do the same thing with two different outcomes. Glad all is well with you and baby xx

I miscarried in April and had brown stringy discharge. I’m now 3 weeks 5 days pregnant and have the same fears of miscarrying again.

I know it is extremely hard right now because we are so early, all we can do is hold out until that early reassurance scan.

Unfortuantly brown discharge is completely normal in healthy pregnancies. I had it for about 4 weeks. It had nothing to do with my miscarriage which I found odd and still am not sure if I believe it fully. It is really so 50-50 that some people will say they had it and was fine and some will say they miscarried

Sending positive vibes your way x

Thank you @TTCRand So sorry you went through miscarriage, it’s an awful thing to go through. Amazing that your pregnant again so quickly, wishing you all the best with this pregnancy!!! Yeah I will just have to wait until I can get a scan, it feels like it’s a lifetime away but I know it will be here soon 🤞🏼Thank you, hopefully it will be ok but I have a gut feeling that it’s the same all over again x

@Lottie2267 Thank you and sorry for your loss too. It was a really hard time, and still is really. 9 weeks with twins 😞 best friend pregnant at same time, due the day our twins should of been. It is really awful isn’t it ❤️

I 100% understand your feelings. You try for a pregnancy again and when you’re pregnant you have all these awful feelings and fear another miscarriage. It is going to be so hard waiting for that scan. I’ve spent the last 5 days worrying and dreading waiting another few weeks for scan xx

Lottie2267 · 31/08/2022 15:39

Oh I am so sorry @TTCRand that is so so sad 💔 my best friend was also pregnant the same time as me so I completely understand how you would have felt. My other friend has just announced her pregnancy and fell pregnant the first month of trying. It’s so hard isn’t it, I just feel like everyone I know is pregnant at the moment. We have been trying since May 2021 and still no luck, unless everything turns out ok with this pregnancy 😩🤞🏼

I really hope everything will be ok for you this time around and I hope the time goes quickly for you between now and having a scan. Just try not to compare with your last pregnancy as this is a brand new pregnancy ❤️ Sending positive vibes your way xx
