Am I going into labour?!

Helppppp, I'm 38+1 weeks and this morning I woke up to a lot of milky white discharge. Then whilst I was out walking the dog I started to get sharp pains down below, like lightening crotch. About half an hour ago I got in the car to leave for work and the baby started moving soooo much and the lightening crotch has got 10000x worse to the point I can hardly even stand up. I had to turn around and come home as I can't even imagine being at work rn🥴

Is this an early sign of labour?!

I’m not sure, call the midwife team
and ask. It does sound like it but labour is so different for everyone, mine wasn’t like that.

You should have a number for midwives if you’re in UK?

Or if you have no number for midwives call 111, or even 999 if needed. The lightning crotch sounds puzzling and a medical person should advise as I know nothing!

My early labour was more clear fluid -> bit of blood -> vomit -> stomach aches

Discharge and lightening crotch meant nothing for me. Monitor and see.

It's normal to get increased discharge and lightening crotch in the last trimester.
My first signs of labour were shits and contractions.
I lost the mucus plug at 36 weeks and that didn't start anything either.

Discharge normal, lightning crotch can just be the baby moving around hitting nerves. Painful but not labour.
My labours all started with loss of the muscus plug a few days before (different to discharge), baby’s movements slowed and braxton hicks amped up until they started turning in to regular contractions.

Lol at how I typed mucus.
