Can baby un-engage?

I am currently 36 weeks & 3 days. Last week my MW told me my little madam was head down and engaged into the pelvis - accompanied by loads of pressure it certainly felt this way.

over the past 24 hours I have had some random slightly painful cramps/tightening but these have been every few hours or so, so I am guessing Brixton Hicks.

Lying here now, I can feel her hiccuping away but it suddenly is much higher then when she was engaged. When I have a poke around I don’t think I can feel her in my pelvis anymore and it suddenly feels like she’s in a little ball in the middle of my bump.

I guess my question is can baby engage and then un-engage herself? I have a gut feeling she is going to come before due date - although I’m not sure if that’s just me being impatient because I want to meet her!

Yes. They can.

Second and beyond babies often like to behave like yoyos 😩

Yes, unfortunately! Just when you think you have them where you want them!

Owww dammit! This is DD1 and I was hoping the was the start of the ball rolling - need to hang on longer I guess!

Yup, especially if it isn't your first. Unfortunately they can engage from around 32 weeks so it isn't a sign of impending labour either 😕
Not fun when they are engaged though, so uncomfortable!
Won't be too much longer OP :) x
