Early scan, gestational sac but no yolk

Hi I’m looking for some reassurance. We have been TTC for a few years now and started our IUI journey this year. I finally got my BFP just over 2 weeks ago so had our early scan today as they estimated I was 6-7weeks. It showed a small sac but nothing else so they’re bringing me back in 2 weeks. I’ve not had any pain or bleeding and the nurse kind of insinuated she thinks that’s the pregnancy over… we’re heartbroken but just not ready to give up hope!
The next thing I want to mention is that I developed a follicle over a week later than normal and then had a trigger shot to bring on ovulation (cycle day 23/24) - could this be affecting my dates?! Am I possibly earlier that they think? Holding out hope!!

Yes absolutely that will be affecting your dates! Is the 6/7 weeks based on your LMP? If so you will defo be earlier than you thought and your scan probably totally normal for your stage.

Dating using LMP is based on the assumption you ovulate in day 14 of your cycle but if you ovulate much later than it overestimates how far along you are. According to my LMP I’m 7 weeks 3 days but because I ovulated in day 19 of my cycle I’m actually 6 weeks 4 days.

if you search due date calculator by ovulation date and do that instead you’ll get a better estimate of how far along you are :)

Thank you!! When I use the ovulation date it says I’ve only just turned 6 weeks.. so maybe I just need a few more days of development and I’m praying we see something on the scan in a couple weeks!!!
All my tests are such strong positives so I hope they stay! I’ve had very minimal cramps but it’s more like twinges than a cramp, I’m probably just more aware of it because I’m worried about the fact this could end in miscarriage :(

I don’t think you are 7 weeks yet. Like you say, 6 tops. I had a scan at around 5+5 due to some light spotting and minor cramps (I had a previous ectopic so needed it checked out quickly) and there was just a sac (in the right place, which was a good start for me) They didn’t seem concerned at all, said it was common enough at this point, went back two weeks later and it was all good. Good luck!

Fingers crossed that’s it case and this all works… to wait all this time and finally feel like it’s happened all for it to be taken away is just so tough!

Unfortunately I had some bleeding last night… it was light and only lasted 20-30mins (not enough to go on a pad.. only noticeable when wiping). I’m in for another scan on Tuesday.. praying it’s just everything implanting in like the nurse said could be the case!!

Just to say, I know I ovulated about cycle day 26 and that's also the only time we could have conceived based on when we had intercourse. I had a scan today when by last menstrual cycle I would be 8 weeks. The midwife sonographer agreed I was dating earlier so I think I am more like 6w4d based on conception. She wanted me to go back in 3 weeks to check progress. They'll be in a better position to measure and date a few weeks on.

It’s so hard when everyone has different cycles but they use a standard method of guessing etc! Praying I’m the same and just too early!!!

Had a other scan today and the sac has grown and now has a little fetal pole and yolk sac formed! Fingers crossed next week there’s a heartbeat!!

I'm so sorry, please look after yourself and take things slowly.

I've had 3 miscarriages, and at times thought we'd never conceive. It will happen x

Thank you, I just hope one day we have our little miracle! It’ll be a rough few weeks I think.
