Hello, just looking for advice/experience. I've been having issues with low iron levels, this will be my third baby and I am almost 37 weeks. I have been anaemic through all three pregnancies and suffered a large hemorrhage after baby #1 after an EMCS (1.5litre). This time around I've experienced severe nausea and migraines when taking iron tablets, and despite trying liquid iron it hasn't worked. Bloods done last week said iron is just under 100. Midwife raised concerns as I'm due another section so I'm now high risk for another hemorrhage. I'm booked in for an iron infusion now so that the iron goes straight into the bloodstream. Does anyone have any experience please to talk me through it? As the blood's were done last week they said they might repeat tests first thing in the morning and decide what to do but management team have said they think I need it.

I had two after my baby was born as I lost a lot of blood in labour and my haemoglobin levels were low. They put in a canula and I was hooked up to a drip until it finished. It doesn't take long.

I had one after birth. Dont remember huge amounts, used a cannula, I think a healthcare assistant sat with me as they did it, perhaps took 30-40 mins. Don't remember it as especially painful or anything. Think they keep an eye on you in case any reaction but I didn't feel anything whilst having it/after.
