Hi everyone! This is my first post! I keep having these sharp 'twinges' in my groin area. Someone told me that they could be round ligament pain, but I'm 28 weeks pregnant now. The other night the front of my stomach went rock solid and I had this 'twinge' last for a few seconds, and since then I've been getting this 'twinge' about 4/5 times a day. Is this normal?

Dear Carey87

I would get it checked out, ask your G.P. They should be able to use the doppler. If he / she is concerned they might refer you to the maternity unit. Yesterday I was seen for groin pain and was told it's ligaments or a slight infection for which I am taking antibiotics but I was referred to the local maternity hospital for a more in-depth doppler tracing. My pain can be so bad it's hard to walk and I am only 21 weeks. The midwife told me I am getting reay for birth early (nothing dangerous though).

they may be Braxton Hicks contractions [your body getting ready but not signs of labour] but you should get them checked out. Ring your midwife.

Hi! Thank you. I thought Braxton Hicks started at around 34 weeks though?

nope - mine started at about 12 weeks - sounds just like braxton hicks to me

my tummy goes like a stone and i have to slow down until it passes

Please do come and join us on the due in April thread (look in the antenatal topic).

I am 30 weeks, and getting a lot of this- I am getting braxtons too (I can tell the difference though, tis my 4th LOL) but tbh this is just the baby who is now head down and playing! Sometimes bounces on the pelvic floor can feel especially like this.

Thank you for responding. Calmed me down a lot!
