Low blood pressure

Has anyone experienced low blood pressure? I'm almost 12 weeks and yesterday I collapsed and today I was very close to it again. I'm thinking it could be my blood pressure but when reading up it doesn't look like there's much I can do for it

Call 111 please, as a HCP I would do that in your position.

I had low pressure throughout (and also collapsed at 11 weeks). I also had low iron though so was given supplements for that. With the low blood pressure though, I was just told to take it easy and eat little and often (hard with HG but needed to be done). Sorry if that’s not much help. Your next blood check should highlight if there’s anything else deficient that could help overall.

Thanks ladies. I have my 12 week scan on Thursday so will be getting all my bloods done there. Might give GP a call this morning and run it past them and maybe they could check my blood pressure. 3 times I was laid down yesterday before I actually fainted and my job won't allow that so I'm really stressing this morning x

Generally speaking, low blood pressure is preferable to high blood pressure but obviously once you become symptomatic ie dizziness/fainting, then it's time to seek professional help.
Make sure you're drinking plenty of water, obviously more than 2l as you're pregnant.
We do tell people to increase their salt intake sometimes to aid their sodium production but as your pregnant I wouldn't do anything drastic without tailored professional help.

I said the exact same thing last night about at least it's not high blood pressure. I'm hoping it maybe passes, that's been since Saturday morning I've been like it.... I can only hope I do better today in work x

Have your iron levels been tested recently?

Stephanie226 · 29/08/2022 07:20

Iron levels were last checked mid July but where I live everything goes on an app and there still aren't any results, they said they don't tend to go on your app until nearer your 12 week scan which is this week x

You can get a bp monitor on Amazon for around £15 and they're decent. Would be worth getting as we ask patients to monitor themselves at home over 7 days regularly.

@Stephanie226 I thought I’d follow along as I think I may be experiencing the same. I used to get it before my period and did go to my gp at the time who told me to eat more carbs and to eat more frequently. I’m currently 8 weeks pregnant and it seems to be magnified. Do you find when you managed to sit / lay down before fainting you’re still quite sick from it (in addition to pregnancy sickness)?. Not a solution but one thing I’ve found helps is having a jelly sweet or 2 when I feel it happening. I’ve only been out of bed for 2hours today and have mostly slept, it’s so so frustrating and there doesn’t seem to be a solution.

This sounds more like low blood sugar than blood pressure.

@hashbrownsandwich oh ok, thank you. I need to register with the midwife so I’ll mention both to them.
