I'm 15 weeks. I've just done my BP with my mums monitor and it's come back at 167/135, that's really high isn't it? I'm on aspirin, I've not had my BP done by the midwife since 6 weeks!

I've been seeing dots/flashes in my eyes. I'm just worried about pre eclampsia as my mum had it quite badly.

I was going to text the midwife but I don't want to waste their time! After my scan I wasn't seen, they just spoke to me infront of everyone in the waiting room after waiting 2 and a half hours. So I just feel like my care has been a bit rubbish

You need to ring EPU/MAU or turn up, that is seriously high! I got taken in a few weeks ago at 14 weeks with my BP being 182/113 and had to stay in for a few hours and put on medication to lower it. It also wont be pre eclampsia at this stage, it will just be high BP, but please make sure you go xx

You need to call the maternity unit immediately. I have had high Bp since 12 weeks and am on labetalol. You need it checking and they can then prescribe. There should be a number on your notes. Ours is called the maternity assessment unit, don’t leave a message on community midwife line as they might not get it quick enough. Good luck

@maggiebun @Pheepa I've just done it again and it was 132/73 I don't know if that's still high or not? My mum did hers and it was perfect so I don't know if it's the machine or what

Take two readings, one in each arm. The first reading is definetely too high, I'd give your maternity unit a ring and let them know, you're definetely not wasting their time x

Pheepa · 25/08/2022 10:37

Given the flashing lights I’d still give them a call so they can check it for you. Better to be safe

maggiebun · 25/08/2022 10:38

I agree with @Pheepa definitely give them a call, better to be safe xx

maggiebun · 25/08/2022 14:55

@gonewithtthewind how did you get on?

@gonewithtthewind how did you get on?

I spoke to the midwife on the phone but they didn't seem worried as I did it again and it was 140/81, just said they'll see me the week after next so I don't know 😞🤷🏻‍♀️

I would take the BP monitor home with you and do it first thing when waking. Do it three times then work out the average. If it’s higher than 140/90 then I would ring maternity triage or EPAU.
