Cramps and head engaged - will baby arrive soon?

I'm 37 weeks, head is 2/5 engaged and I've been getting period like cramps for the past couple of weeks, getting worse the past couple of nights. Are these braxton hicks and does that mean baby is likely to arrive on time or (hopefully) before due date??!

Am I being too hopeful??

Don't want to put a dampner on things, but mine has been 2-3/5 engaged since 35 weeks, still no sign of baby and I am 40+1. That said, I haven't had the cramps you describe so maybe you will be luckier than me

Awww, there was me getting excited. Oh well. Hope things move along very soon for you KelaS, you must be totally fed up with waiting around.
