Hi everyone,
I had some health problems since last December and have very irregular periods. I am in shock, I just found out that I'm pregnant!!! My last "kind of" period was in April. I'm really wondering if I could be few months already as I noticed my waist line is getting bigger.
I didn't have any pregnancy symptoms during my first pregnancy, now it's the same, I just noticed I'm gaining weight despite being on diet (for medical reasons). And did a pregnancy test today which came back absolutely positive.
I know they offering first scan between 10-12 weeks but any chance it could be done ASAP just to find out if I'm not already in the middle of pregnancy?
I will be going to my gp tomorrow morning but anyone has similar experience? Is it possible to get a scan or I'll need to wait?
Thank you

I'm just wondering if I should book a private scan if NHS won't check it....

I think they will be able to refer you for a more urgent scan to check. I had to have one for a different reason in early pregnancy and had an nhs one within 48 hours of seeing the GP. Congratulations. One of my close friends had a surprise 3rd baby concieved while breastfeeding her second as her cycles hadn't started properly yet. She was about 22 weeks when she found out as she felt movement. He was totally fine and starts school this year.

I guess it depends whether you can afford a private scan, or if you are happy to wait and see what the nhs can offer.

If it were me, I would tell them you have no idea how many weeks you are due to irregular periods and you need an urgent scan to help you work out what you want to do.

Even if you have every intention of continuing with the pregnancy, it might help to them rush things through for you if you appear time conscious.

Yes if you self refer you can state that you don't know how far you are and suspect over 12 weeks, and you'll get an urgent scan.

if you phone your local midwives and explain they’ll probably book you in for a scan very quickly 💐

Could you phone your local early pregnancy unit at your hospital? When i found out i was pregnant i had a little bit of bleeding at first and they asked me to come in and scanned me the same day which showed i was still very early but baby was fine. Im not suggesting you say that but could you phone them and explain your situation and maybe they will ask you to go in for a scan?
