Pregnancy constipation

For some reason when your pregnant nothing is off limits to talk about 😂 I literally have not been to the toilet in almost a week... I've been using lactulose, eating oranges, I drink 2 litres of water every day and nothing is working. Does anyone have any ideas? This is my 2nd pregnancy but it's been 13 years since my last and I don't remember having this at all x

Drink lots of prune juice!

I suffer from chronic constipation when im not pregnant, so it’s doubly bad now that I am. I need to drink a large amount of prune juice to go the loo, so maybe drink a glass first to see what happens and then up the amount if no movement.

Its rank, I’ll be honest, but I’ve found the Asda own juice ice cold is the most tolerable. Other supermarkets just don’t taste that nice.

good luck!

Make a lentil dhal, cheap eats and will sort you out!

Loads and loads and loads of water. And yes prune juice!

Movicol worked for me - two sachets a day to keep on top of it. I also found that M&S spicy lentil soup helped, plus was delicious. Sending sympathy, I’ve been there and it’s hellish. But temporary!

Bran flakes helped me with constipation in pregnancy

Commiserations! I used to take the maximum dose of lactulose until things get moving -- 50 ml.

Lay off the pregnancy multivits if you are taking any - OD-ing on iron is really bad for making you constipated

Fibre fibre fibre - Shreddies are really good for having a lot of fibre in one portion, if I don't have my Shreddies I know about it 😩

Thankfully one of my cravings with my DS was tinned prunes (had to limit myself to 1 tin a day because they really work!)

WorryMcGee · 23/08/2022 22:31

All bran. Ugh I remember this. Absolutely terrible 😭

Northernerinwales · 23/08/2022 23:23

I’ve suffered constipation my whole pregnancy. Now at 37 weeks I swear by wheatabix for breakfast or cheerios and an activia yogurt every day. Since having this I’ve been going more regular
