I'm really annoyed Im 20 weeks pregnant with my 4th child. I've had a migraine for 9 days now. My GP isn't interested, my midwife isn't interested. We've been given a "pregnancy advice line" to call that's supposedly open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Which is a load of shit as no one answers the phone or it says they are busy and to try again.
This number is meant to be dialled to be through to midwives to signpost you elsewhere and to give advice. I've got 3 other kids to look after the head ache feels like it's now in my neck, I've been taking paracetamol and covid tests and nothing shows or helps.

Im so pissed off I've had 3 bad births with this hospital that nearly killed 2 of my kids and im so worried im being ignored again.
When I did get through to a Midwive the other day she said well it's not pre eclampsia you're only 20 weeks have a rest?!

Unfortunately there isn't much you can take so I don't know what else anyone can do. Headaches are very common in pregnancy.

Is there anyone who can help with the kids so you can rest in a darkened room? Have you tried those headache strips?

This is so disappointing to read. I had severe headaches when I was pregnant, so I called the maternity triage and they told me to come in straight away. It ended up being a 5 night stay while they checked everything thoroughly, including an MRI etc.
they did find a cyst in my brain and said it has most likely always been there but was exacerbated by the pregnancy hormones. They also said I may have been experiencing tension headaches and needed to rest, which did actually help.

if the triage aren't answering, I'd go to A&E.
ridiculous that no one is answering the 24 hour triage line..!!

Hi OP that's terrible. Are you usually a migraine sufferer, and if yes what is your normal strategy for symptom/pain management? Nine days for a migraine is really long. I know paracetamol won't even touch the pain, but the pregnancy means you should try yo avoid anything stronger. What help do you have with the other three kids so you can rest?

If you don't normally suffer migraine ans this is the first time you've had one during a pregnancy then I'd go to A&E but label it "extreme head and neck pain". I think self-diagnosing migraine could mislead your healthcare team into not worrying about the problem?

Hi glad to read I'm not the only one who thinks this is bad. And usually don't get head aches maybe when a period is due but it's just relentless. The only time it doesn't bother me is when I'm sleeping!. I am going to try and ring them again and make a complaint today about this phone line.
As when I called up this week the midwife said why haven't you called the line first? I said oh I did no one answers, she said oh I'll send an email as you aren't the only lady to tell me this Confused
