High HcG levels at 6 weeks pregnant

Im currently 5+6 weeks pregnant and have had a blood test today to try and help put my anxiety at ease as I had a miscarriage last month. I tested negative before falling pregnant again this time around.
My HcG levels have come back as 22,959 and I’m worried that it’s quite high and may mean something bad. Has anyone else had around this number at this stage of pregnancy and gone on to have a healthy baby? The EPU wouldn’t give me any advice as it’s only 1 test and said I need another on 48 hours to check it but my GP won’t put me forward for that.
thank you

I won’t be worried about miscarriage as that number is amazing, but you won’t know until a blood test in 48hrs to check it’s doubled.

i would assume you are either further on than you think (ovulated earlier) or twins?

Thank you so much for coming back to me! I’m not so worried about miscarriage this time but more with Molar pregnancy (I’ve been Googling if you can’t tell lol). I’m just so scared something is going to go wrong that I can’t think positive about anything at the moment. I don’t think I’m further along than I think just because there’s only 1 possible conception date but I suppose there’s always a chance! I may just have to get an early scan to try and put my mind at rest a bit

Hello, I had a blood test at 5+5 following a previous mmc and some bleeding and my hcg was 24,000.

I had a scan at 6 weeks on the dot and measured 5+6. I then had a private scan at 9+2 and measured 9+4 with a very strong heartbeat. I know when I ovulated so am fairly certain on dates, but could’ve missed by a day or two.

I am now 11 weeks today. While I can’t confirm everything is still going to plan, I had high hcg levels with no ectopic/ molar/ twins.

Hope that gives you a little bit of reassurance, it could be that you implanted quicker than the average and so your hcg started rising soon (I’m no expert but someone mentioned this to me as a possible reason).

Keep is updated ♥️

Hello, thank you so much for sharing with me. It’s reassuring to hear you had similar levels at around the same time! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I will keep you posted as to how mine goes x

I had HCG tested at 6+2 and it was around 77,000! All healthy at 16 weeks now but measuring a week ahead so probably just implanted early 😊

Hi,
I had US last Saturday and was told I’m 6w4d and hcg was 24,000 and today sadly baby still has no heartbeat and is only measuring at 6w6d. I think I’ll loose this and I can’t cope. I had a FET July 19 so dates are accurate.

My hCG with first pregnancy was 19000 at 6wks. She is 14 now. That went from 1275, 7 days earlier. My other daughter was 3045 at 5+3, from 185 the week before. Shows hCG can really vary between pregnancies / cycles. It's the doubling rate that matters as needs to double at least every 72 hours. Those were both doubling about 41-43 hours. High hCG can also be a sign of twins, but wasn't for us.

I've booked privately for a second test as haven't had my first results back taken at 6wks last Wednesday, but if you are up that high by almost 6 weeks, your doubling rate should be really good. That's probably why they don't need to do another blood test.

@Bmayn3 Hi OP, just wanted to check on you. Hope everything is OK with the pregnancy and you got to see your little bean on the scan. I had a blood draw on Tuesday when I was just 5+3 and hCG was 11,602. This made me panic and was frantically googling all over the place. My dates are accurate as I'm IVF so know the dates exactly. I was interested to know how you progressed. Fingers crossed everything's well X
