Hi

I recently started a thread to find out people's opinion of the Bugaboo Chamelon. However, after much thought, my partner and I have decided that it is just too expensive. The other pram/pushchair that has caught my eye is the Icandy Cherry and having tried it out in the shop it seems to tick all the boxes that the Bugaboo does for substantially less money!! Any feedback would be much appreciated!!

Thanks

Sorry - the iCandy Cherry!

luvaduck · 21/01/2008 12:57

i've got an icandy apple which is great becasue - it can be 3 or 4 wheeler - convert to a pear (double) when you have dc2, good suspension nice and sturdy etc

but main problem its a bit on the heavy side for hauling in and out of the car. friends who've got the bugaboo say the same although it is slightly lighter than apple with carrycot on.

a friend has the icandy cherry and likes it, its much lighter so a good option

the problem is - there is no perfect pushchair!
a lot of people get one they like for newbron to 6 months ad then getting a chepa lightweight mclaren. so IMO not worth spending squillions on a bugaboo that you're going to ditch later

Great...I have managed to get a reasonable price too..£408 for Pushchair, carrycot, footmuff and maxi cosi car seat.. have you had a price??

Hi Luvaduck..this is my view too..all my friends have said that I will want to get a lightweight mclaren later on which has totally put me off spend £700plus on bugaboo with all accessories!!

Hi, I've got a cherry and have had it for about 7 months and I think its fab! It is very light and it is easy to fold even though you have to take the seat off to fold it. Its very easy to push and DS has always looked very cosy in it. I love the fact he can face me as he is now in the pushchair bit although I'm sure he would prefer a better view by now .

Downsides are that the cot is quite small and DS couldn't fit in after about 4 months of age, but then he is quite a big boy. Also the buttons to recline the pushchair up and down are in a slightly annoying place and need two hands... but really thats the only bad stuff I can think to say about it.

Teensy · 21/01/2008 13:57

Chooster..thanks for that!! Yes i did think that the cot looked fairly small..however a few of my friend have said that their babies wanted to sit at about 4-5mths so hopefully this will be ok!!

Glad to read this thread as I have just bought Icandy cherry! LO hasn't arrived so can't give any feedback. It was certainly lighter than all the others I looked at. I know I'll end up using a cheapie light one later so it seemed daft to get a great big padded thing. I thought it was a much nicer colour than some of the others too!

Has anyone had any issues with the iCandy in terms of the size of the carry cot?? It seemed to me to be a bit smaller than some carry cots that I have seen...

Teensy - where are you getting your iCandy prices from? £408 seems a good price for all that!

We are not getting the carry cot as can't really see the point as baby will be a spring/summer baby - and of course they are not in the carry cot long enough to be worthehile (IMO).

We have been quoted £230 for the pushchair, £99 for the carry cot and £45 for the footmuff (in total £374). So your price is really good!

Have to also say that I really liked the iCandy Apple to start with, but then when I tried to lift it I soon changed my mind - 12.5kg worth of pram!!

Teensy · 23/01/2008 10:44

Hi Mum2b2BabyRoo!

I got this quote from the Inverclyde Pram Centre in Greenock (West Coast of Scotland!!) which is relatively close to where I live. The price was cheaper than any other quotes I got. The price I was quoted for the pushchair is £199!! Here are the contact details - I found them on the stockist www.icandyuk.com/stockists.htm section of the iCandy website:

Inverclyde Pram Centre
17/18 Grey Place, Greenock, Inverclyde, PA15 1YF
Tel 01475 787596

Not sure how convenient this if for you!!

Just to let you know I read a review of the iCandy Cherry which mentioned that they have experienced problems with front wheels falling off!! However, i phoned iCandy and they said that this has now been rectified and wheels are now riveted on rather than screwed on!! This hasnt put me off - I will just make sure that i buy the up to date model!!

Thanks Teensy! Um yes - your store is just a little out of the way for me (I'm in Kent!) but thank you for the information anyway!

Thanks also for the tip about the wheels - will def make sure we get the most current model!

Teensy · 23/01/2008 15:11

Hi Chooster

In response to your message about the size of the iCandy Carry cot ...do you find there is plenty of room for your boy when in pushchair mode??
