Ok this sounds mean, but lie on the side the baby is lying on. It will soon move if it feels squashed!

It is normal to feel kicked/shoved/poked as the baby gets bigger I'm afraid.

Hi meand bump

Sorry to hear you're in pain. It may well be 'normal' but if you're feeling really uncomfortable don't hesitate to contact your mid-wife, or even go to the maternal assessment unit so that they can make sure that you and the baby are ok. Sometimes pain is a sign of things being awry - and its their job to suss out what's normal and whats not.

I'm expecting my first baby too (I'm 36 weeks) and its not been an easy ride - all manner of painful goings on. But there are some sorts of aches and pains that do need to be treated - for example last week I just thought I was really uncomfortable bec the baby was low down in my pelvis, but when I saw the midwife it turned out that I had an infection down below and needed a course of antibiotics to sort me out.

Remember, each one of us is different, and you just have to trust your own instinct - and please don't be embarassed to ask the professionals for help, thats what they are there for.

Good luck
