Just wondered what others experience of this was, I'm 38 weeks and it was only discovered today. Midwife talked about Risk of cord prolapse, doctor seemed unconcerned and gave me a sweep as I'm being induced anyway at 39 weeks. Water volume was 29. Having another sweep on Friday, but I don't think it will work. So wondered what others experience of it was and how induction went if you had it?

Mine was born almost 13 years ago, so my experience might be out of date.

I was knocked and started leaking fluid at 22 weeks. After that I got bigger and bigger. I was sent for an extra scan, all was fine.
I was told I wasn't allowed a water birth and would be monitored once in labour.
I wasn't induced, so this might not be relevant.
I was told to call the hospital as soon as I went into labour. If my waters broke unexpectedly I was to go down on all fours, check the cord hadn't come out and dial midwife.
My waters did break unexpectedly, no labour pains until about an hour after they broke. I called the hospital while on my hands and knees in a huge pool of water. The cord hadn't come out, but they wanted me in asap.
When I got there they tried to send me home, but thankfully labour started and I asked to be checked. DS took 6 hours from water break to birth.
He was quite muscly from having so much room to move.

I had it with DS - got picked up at 34 weeks. I had 5 sweeps starting from 38 weeks but was induced at 38+2 and had the baby at 38+5. Next time I think I would try and wait until 39 weeks to start it just as I'm not sure my body was really ready when I started sweeps at 38.
It was fine! Birth went well and as it was my first pregnancy, I didn't know much different. The only down side was being in hospital from the start of induction as it was during covid so my husband couldn't come in until labour.
I had A LOT of water when they broke my waters, but I guess that's expected!

Thanks both, I went into spontaneous labour last time and it was pretty fast, so this is all new to me, good to know the induction went ok @ablisha
