Measuring three weeks behind and no heartbeat

Hi all,

I just wanted to gather some POSITIVE stories here of anyone that went to an early scan and was told no heartbeat found and measuring a lot smaller than they think you should be who then went on to have a healthy pregnancy?

I went in today for a private early scan at 9 weeks and I was measuring around 6 weeks and they couldn't find a heartbeat. I have been referred to hospital for an appointment with them tomorrow. I haven't had any bleeding, pregnancy tests are still showing really strong lines so my hcg hasn't dropped.

I just want some positive stories after a horrible day for what was supposed to be a positive one.

I completely understand I can't be blind to the fact this could end up in MC but for now I want to remain as positive as I can although I am prepared for the worst.

Thanks xx

You could've ovulated late, and got your dates wrong. Have you had any bleeding or any severe cramps? If your hcg levels are still high that's a good sign but maybe your dates could be off. Good luck and hoping for the best for you❤️

Hi lovely. I’m so sorry, firstly that you had a worrying scan. It’s so difficult to walk away from a scan feeling scared rather than happy, I’ve been on both sides of the spectrum and I do understand.

I have a mixed bag of experience with measuring behind - I have been 2 weeks+ out every time! My PCOS does make me slightly irregular which may factor into this.

My first pregnancy I got put back two weeks, baby continued to measure two weeks behind throughout and then was born at 35 weeks by their dates, 37 by the original and weighed 7lbs 3.. so I’m pretty sure my dates were right

My second pregnancy I measured two weeks behind throughout my early scans and 12 week scan. It was then discovered at 17+5 that I had a missed miscarriage 5 weeks before 😥

My third (current) pregnancy I had an early scan when I should of been 7 weeks and they put me at barely 5 weeks. I wasn’t scanned again until 11 weeks by the new dates at which point I measured 13 weeks so had caught up completely, or the early scan had been inaccurate. I’m nearly 16 weeks and have had another private scan a few days ago (I’m neurotic after last time!) and I’m still measuring back on track.

The difference is that I have had a heartbeat at these scans, but I could of gone for any of these early scans a few days earlier and not seen it. I don’t want to give you false hope, it might be ok and it might not, unfortunately no one can tell you with any certainty at this point, not even the sonographer really which is why you have to wait and see as awful as it is. Just know you’re not alone, I’m finding this entire pregnancy gut wrenching after my last one, even after the positive scans. It’s all a minefield emotionally. Thinking of you x
