Hey! I got the all clear for a homebirth today, just wondering if there were any mums on here who had a homebirth and could recommend a company to hire/buy a birthing pool? Any reviews would be welcome! Plus any other tips/tricks for homebirth! Thanks 🥰

Hello. I hired a birth pool from Barefoot Birth Pools in 2019. Very easy process, great delivery and the pool itself was superb. Each pool is used with a liner so not as yukky as maybe perceived.

I wanted to hire one so I could save money, be more environmentally sustainable but also so we didn't have the faff of trying to get rid of a purchased one afterwards. I also was worried about buying one and not even using it when the time came.
The returns process was so straightforward and was collected by a courier.

I would highly recommend them but I'm sure there are lots of others.

Um, I think there is a better place for this, I’ve asked for it to be moved.

I think I used birth pool in a box both times. They were really good and very friendly and helpful. To be fair my husband dealt with the pool itself but it all seemed very straightforward and even collection was in a 2 hr time slot so we knew when they were coming. Unfortunately my second child had other ideas so I didn't even get into the pool but at least we had it here ready. Enjoy your home birth and ignore the people with frowny faces about it Smile

See if your midwife can recommend, our trust has a deal with a company - the Birth Partnership - for discounted hire at just £25 which is a steal. Would recommend them!

@SheWoreYellow Sorry if I have somehow offended you? I havent posted on here before so new to all this... I'm 2nd trimester (pregnant) posting in a pregnancy forum asking about a homebirth pool while pregnant... I don't see the problem? Please enlighten me?

@Buttons0522 @Stopdropnroll @Thismummyrunstheshow thank you for all your suggestions I'll speak to my midwife when I next see her and in the meantime I'll take a look around on some birthing pool sites x

I used Barefoot Birth pools for two home births (DS1 born in a hospital water birth and then DS2 and DD at home).

They were great - arrived on time, all parts present and correct, clear instructions, easy to use and return was straight forward too.

In terms of other tips, I had a hospital bag packed with all my things in and another home birth box with things like towels in.

IKEA shower curtains are fab for after birth to protect your sofas! And I also had my favourite chocolate biscuits and a bottle of champagne ready to go Wink.

I inflated the pool so it was ready to go before my due date and then just made sure we were comfortable with how the hose etc worked.

First time, I was a bit late calling the midwives and they only just made it in time for the birth. Keep in touch with the midwifery team and don't hesitate to ask for them to come when you feel you need them.

See if you have a local home birth support group eg on Facebook. There is one in my area and a woman runs a birthing pool rental service.

I’ve just hired one from the Birth Partnership (although paid full whack!). Not used it yet, due in a couple of weeks, but it has come with everything and really well packaged, arrived in two days (I was worried I’d left it a bit late). I ordered the pool, birthing “kit”, extended hose and a tens machine for £140 inc delivery.

Second baby but first home birth so I’m afraid I can’t offer any advice!

Not sure what the complaint upthread was about - I really can't see the problem with posting this here...

Have also used Barefoot (a while ago in 2017). Customer service was excellent and friendly. I'd personally go for hire over purchase even if the prices were similar, as we were definitely glad to have the pool taken away again afterwards. Hygiene-wise, I can't see the difference between a hired pool and a fixed one in hospital. They are guaranteed professionally cleaned between hires, and are supplied with a liner (which doesn't flap around or anything, due to the weight of the water).

Hope you have a great home birth!

It’s now been moved. It was in pregnancy choices.

It’s now been moved so that’s fine.

You didn’t offend me, it’s just that Pregnancy Choices is a board where people discuss whether to have an abortion or go ahead with the pregnancy.

Did you go for your home birth @ChefMum4920
