New job whilst pregnant

Has anyone ever had problems in getting employed whilst pregnant?

I'll be looking for a new job after the summer holidays. Come the beginning of September I'll be 13 weeks, I'm just worried no one will want to employ someone who is pregnant 😩

Thoughts from ladies who have been through this please.

It absolutely shouldn't be an issue. Legally it isn't allowed to be an issue.

But in reality, it may well be. So, while you can do nothing to control employers you can control your own perspective on this. Simply look for a job. Do not feel guilty. Do not apologise. Simply look for job. Refer to the pregnancy when you are legally required to do (at a certain amount of weeks depending on which country you live in). Take care of yourself.

I've worked in HR for years. Mostly education but also small family run firms. It's absolutely ethically and morally ok to apply for a job while pregnant. You are not misleading anyone and you do not need to disclose until the legal timeframe for your country.

good luck with the search!

I was made redundant at 15 weeks and interviewed for and accepted another job at 20 weeks - disclosed pregnancy at 23 weeks and will be starting at 26 weeks. My new employer has been incredibly supportive. I won't lie, I was a nervous wreck from interview to acceptance to telling them about the pregnancy but I needn't have been so worried. Really hope things go as smoothly for you. Good luck!
